Rio Hondo ADN Nursing Program

U.S.A. California

Published

Hi everyone,

I currently go to Mt. Sac at the moment and will finish all my ADN pre-requistes for Rio Hondo this summer. As for the selection criteria they use overall, I feel that my application will be highly competitive. However, my definition of competitiveness is probably different from others. I was wondering for anyone who currently attends or previously attended the ADN program at Rio Hondo to state your applicant profile (overall GPA, science GPA, volunteer hours, any previous degree, and experience). Thanks, it would help me and many others who are hopeful in entering the ADN program at Rio Hondo College. :)

I just took my TEAS this week and looking at the website it says scores are to be sent after acceptance, but I just want to make sure that's the case? The office closes at 4:30pm today, so I wasn't able to speak with anyone to confirm. Does anyone know if we wait to find out if we are accepted and then submit the ATI score?

Correct, they don't need the official score yet :) I included an unofficial print-out with my application but it was unnecessary... I got an 86%

Crazy that they don't accept people who have ever failed the TEAS outside of RHC...

Thank you for confirming!

Thank you for confirming!

Just out of curiosity, what was your TEAS score? Did you study? I got the ATI study manual (from Craigslist) and thought it was helpful :)

I did study for the TEAS. Math has always been my weakest subject, so I really had to review a lot and watch you tube videos. I studied for a good month consistently, prior to that I studied a few times a week to get acquainted with the material and practice problems. I ended up scoring a 76% on the TEAS. I had so much extra time in every section except math. I was on the last question and before I could answer, my time ran out :( . I did pretty well in English and grammar and Science, those were my 2 strongest scores on the TEAS. The ATI manual is helpful as well as the online practice tests. When do you take your test?

Omg when I took the TEAS in September I had like 2 seconds to spare on the math part! Reading ended up being my lowest score (81%) but I think my math was 83%... Thankfully I did really well on the other parts and got an overall of 86%...

Right before I took the test, my boyfriend warned me that reading on a computer was harder than on paper (I only used the practice exams in the back of the manual)... Boy was he right!

Wow! That's terrific you scored an 86%! So I'm not the only one who ran short on time in the math section-that makes me feel a little better! I agree, taking a test on a computer is very different. I took my TEAS at a PSI testing center and the computers were pretty outdated so the back lighting and font on the screen was different and it definitely did not look like the online practice tests I took through ATI.

Hey everyone you guys can call Rio Hondo and find out if you got in for fall 2013...good luck everyone...I didn't get in :(

Thanks for the update. I just called this morning and the woman said she didn't see my name on the list of those who were selected either :(.

I didn't get selected either! At least we don't have to start in June :)

I received a letter in the mail today saying I'm provisionally accepted into the program! Unfortunately, I will be giving up my seat for another school so I hope someone else will get it. Good luck!

what school are you going to?
