Pasadena City College RN program

U.S.A. California

Hi,

I've heard that it's not recommended to work while enrolled as a student in an RN program. I'm applying for the Spring Semester at PCC and while I do intend to leave my current employer should I be accepted, I was wondering if there were people who made the attempt to work part-time or possibly in the summer.

Any opinions?

Thanks!

hi, i was recently accepted too.everything from the student checklist must be submitted to the health sciences office by 8/21/12.

Has anyone been able to add the nursing classes? PCC's system was down for like a week, and now all the N50L classes are full. Do you know if they'll add more sections??

For the name pins did you guys put your first and last name or just first?

Question about the application requirements. It states that you must submit HIGH SCHOOL transcripts.... (really) Does anyone know if your high school diploma is accepted for this requirement or do you really need to have high school transcripts? thanks!

Not 100% sure, but i think you can turn in a diploma instead. But i turned in the transcripts just to be certain.

I'm pretty sure it HAS to be HS transcripts, as they need to be official. A diploma is too easy to forge. Most schools I applied to were very clear about not accepting diplomas as proof of graduating. However, my high school registrar has been amazing in helping me get the things I needed to apply. One transcript got lost in the mail and she even resent it for me without charging me again.

She also was my lifesaver when my immunization records were nowhere to be found. I called to ask if they were still on file at the school and she emailed them to me in a few minutes. Saved a lot of stress and hassle.

Hello Xtina,

I was accepted for the fall 2012 RN cohort at PCC, and I'm wondering if we have to wear our uniforms on the first day too. Since you're in the program already what's the answer please? I don't want to be the only one wearing my uniform. Thank you kindly:)

Blue_Jeans,

I will keep you all posted. The process of getting everything ready for the program is quite tedious, and expensive. Get ready to fork out some good money. Just in books, I spent close to $700 dollars and that's buying them through various internet sites (ebay, amazon etc...) I was fortunate to have a previous student give me her uniforms, but they run around $100 a set. You'll need at least two sets. For the physical/health clearance, I spent close to $300 dollars, and I'm still in the process of getting more vaccinations. My titters were low on the hep B. so I have to get a series of three shots. If you have medical insurance-I'm guessing the insurance "might" cover it. Phewww.....We're also required to purchase some other misc. supplies ; stethoscope, blood pressure machine, pen light etc., that can run around $150. However, it's all been worth it because I've been waiting for this opportunity for over ten years. Tomorrow is my first day, and I'm eager to begin my nursing school venture. Never give up applying- keep trying and be persistent-your turn will come too:) Ciao!!
