Hey guys! I made this thread for everyone who was accepted into Cohort 15, starting in October 2015 at the Fresno campus. Congratulations, guys! We did it! We got in! I don't know about ya'll, but I'm beyond excited and thankful! Let's chat! Can't wait to meet you all! =)

Hi Kharris,

I'm a Pre-Nursing in Fresno too. I'm planning on applying to NU in Fresno, but I have to take their 4 courses and on of the courses us Biomed. Stats. Can you tell me how's that class and hows was the processing of getting in? Was there a lot of applicants applied? How was the essay exam? Any advice?

Thanks

Hey there. Sorry for the late response. I've been really busy lately. First off, Bio Stats was easy! I hate math and aced the course. Just do your best in your prerequisites. Realistically to get in, you need to have above a 3.0 in your core classes, score in the 80s on your TEAS, and get the best possible essay score you can. The essay is not hard if you are a good writer. Like I said, just do your best and apply. You never know. They take the top 20, so the average points vary. The cutoff is usually around 80-84. Best of luck!

Can you tell me how this program/school is? I've read A LOT of bad reviews about this school on all kinds of websites. I'll be relocating to SD next year, and was looking into applying to NU for the BSN. I just want to make sure that I'm making the right choice. I'll be 34 next year, so I really need to get into a program so that I can get my degree and start my career.

Hi kharris719,

Congratulations!!! I have been waiting for weeks for someone to post for the Fresno Cohort 15 since I want to know how many passed and what's their scores. I applied for the Fresno Cohort 15 and took the essay and TEAS exam this morning. If you don't mind, can you post what your GPA and TEAS exam was. Also, how fast did you know your score and acceptance? My GPA is low (3.3) and TEAS (low also) is 81.3. Did they tell you what your essay score is? Best of luck to you and the rest of Cohort 15!!!

Hi Kharris719,

Sorry for the wrong cohort number. I applied for the April 2016- Cohort 16, but I still would like to know your application scores, if you don't mind. How are you doing in class?

Hi JTwin01,

The school is good despite the bad reviews. In my opinion, if someone really wants to get their BSN degree, they would do whatever it takes to get and finish the program. Nothing is easy in life. If being a BSN is easy, there would be no shortage of nurses. In National University, it is fast-paced due to one month courses per course or clinical. Therefore, National University students have to read a lot in a short amount of time. There is also APA format writing essays for almost every pre-requisite class. San Diego have 4 Cohorts every year unlike Fresno (2 Cohorts per year). The Nursing program is 22 months and may cost about $45,000 (tuitionwise). Make sure you buy the ATI TEAS study package since the 2 online practice tests will guide you on what topics you should study more and will also give you an idea of how the TEAS test format is.

Hi bfields_2009 May I ask did you take all your GE classes with NU?. If so how was it what classes did you find hard any advice for me while taking these classes. I am getting ready to start my GE classes with NU and I am a bit scared.

Hi ms.higgins93,

I only took 8 pre-requisites at NU since my other courses from the Philippines were transferred. I mostly took the online classes since I work full-time. I only took the Anatomy and Physiology 2 and Biostatistics at the campus. My advice is read in advance even before your class starts for the month. I read the required chapters before the class so when the instructor explains something I could comprehend it better since I have an idea what he's talking about. Self-study or with a group works since it is fast-paced. You also have to get used writing essays (APA or MLA format). You at least have to do one essay in every course. How many courses do you still have to take? If you have a lot and not in a hurry, try to take it somewhere so it would not be expensive in the long run.

OMG....Why am I just seeing this today is December 14, 2015. @bfields_2009 sorry I am so late but, for as my GE classes I have a lot to take well all of them to take. I want to get them over with if I go to a CC it will take me forever and drive me crazy. If I take all my GE classes with NU wouldn't it be around $65,000?.

-I hope to heard back soon.

Hi ms.higgins93,

I'm sorry for the late reply. I responded on December, but I think it didn't go through. If you do take all the pre-requisites at NU, it would cost a lot! Why don't you try taking at least half of the pre-requisites on a city college especially the Anatomy and Physiology so you could take your time understanding this subject. Anatomy and Physiology is super important when you take the TEAS test for the Nursing program application. Best advice: take Anatomy and Physiology at least the same year you're going to take the TEAS test so you still remember it and increase the chance of getting a higher score.

Im so glad I found this thread . I know Im a little behind but please help if you have any advice

I just graduated with a B.S in Health Care Administration from CSULB. I just realized I want to be a nurse

Looking into the ACCELERATED NURSING PROGRAM at NU Fresno Has me super excited.

My only problems are finding the exact prereq's that I need as well as Which classes from my school will transfer over. I usually use assist.org but I don't see national university on the list

Also the teas what does it cover and how can I prepare for it now?

And when do I apply after I take the pre-req's is it better to take them at NU or a community college.

And when the factor the GPA will it be from my entire B.S schooling or specific classes?
