MSMC ABSN Fall 2013 Program

U.S.A. California

Published

Hi!!

Just wanted to see if there were any other people on here that applied for the Mount St. Mary's ABSN Fall 2013 program? I just turned in my application yesterday and crossing my fingers that I get in.

From reading other threads about this program, I hear it's pretty competitive.

Hope to hear from some other people soon who also applied so we can all wait this out together! :)

Hello, everyone!!!

I am also applied for Fall 2013, and they emailed me that decisions should go out sometime in June.

Good luck and patience to all of us!!!

I checked the Web Advisor today and mine says "Denied to the College" I called to get an advising appointment and they said that the advisors will call all denied applicants and discuss the denial over the phone. I'm sure mine has to do with 3 classes in progress :(

Good Luck everyone else!

I am anxiously waiting as well! Has anyone gotten an interview

Sdsugrad2012 don't give up! I'm sure you'll get in next time

Oh man! You are 100% sure that your denial has to do with the 3 classes in progress?? Are any of your classes any of the sciences like anatomy, phys, chem or micro??? I currently have 3 classes in progress this semester, one of them in micro and I am still planning to take 2 more classes this summer.

When I went to my academic advising session with ------------- back in Dec, I told her that I wanted to apply for the Summer 2014 cohort because I still had a handful of classes in progress. She kept insisting that I should apply for the Fall 2013 cohort because 5 classes in progress wasn't a lot...

I just checked the Web Advisor and mine currently still says "In Review Process".

Sorry to hear that you were denied. :( Are you planning to reapply for the Summer 2014 cohort?

I spoke with an adviser on the phone this morning. Apparently there was a mix up with one of my classes. They weren't going to accept it, but I sent a course description to the adviser, and they decided that they would accept it after all! So I am still going to be considered! YES!!! :) That was actually my second rejection from the school for this application period (there was transcript confusion on their part), so this has been a really rough and discouraging road for me but I'm still pushing my hardest, and hoping that I don't get a THIRD rejection for this one-time application. They haven't updated my status on the advisor but I was told that it was going to be reviewed. She also said that interviews will be some time next week (we will be informed via email) and admission decisions will be mailed out the first week in June.

Way to stick with it SDSU! I still haven't heard anything about an interview yet either. I am completing 2 classes right now. I have all of my sciences done but am finishing up a sociology class because I never took one in undergrad and I'm taking the online Bio Ethics course at Taylor University. I'll be all done with both of those in about 3-4 weeks.

I checked the portal and it says "In Review". Waiting...

Carolina323, how is the Bioethics lass at Taylor university? Is it hard? Do you know if it can be finished in 3 weeks?

Hi X-Smiler. I wouldn't say the Bio-Ethics class is hard, but there is a decent amount of writing you have to do. There are 10 modules and for each module you have to read the chapters in the books and then write a 400 word response to an ethics question that the professor asks you about the subject matter. The essays take me about 45 minutes to write so that's not a big deal. After you submit each essay the professor writes you back with comments and an additional question based on you initial response. You then have to answer this second question in about 200-400 words and re-submit for a grade. You do this 10 times and then you have to write an 8 page paper on an ethics issue. I imagine you could complete the class in about a month however you have to wait each time to hear back from the professor and that takes a few days each time so I imagine the fastest you could realistically get the whole course complete would be about 6 weeks. I'm definitely glad I'm taking the course before coming to the Mount. I imagine that it will be a lot harder and more time consuming to take it on campus.

Thanks Carolina323, from your explanation, i also think it's going to take about 6 weeks to complete the course. I better start with mine now. I don't think one can manage to do it concurrently with the program at the mount.

SDSUgrad2012, glad to hear the problem was corrected. Hopefully we will all be class mates.

Has anyone heard from them? I haven't. Still waiting!!!!!

Hi guys! I am in the current Fall cohort set to graduate this August. I just wanted to let you know that they told us last year that we should have interviews in May and they would make decisions in June but it didn't quite work that way for us. I didn't even get an email about an interview until June 4 and then found out I was accepted on June 20 (I think).

I highly recommend that you take BioEthics at Taylor now. It will save you during your junior semester.

Good luck!
