Making the drive to Sacramento anything I need to know?

I was told my pass letter should be received by next week and the director of my school said if I want my license sooner I can drive to Sacramento and pay the fee in person and get my license or temp license that day. If it really that easy? Do I need to complete any paperwork before I go? I would hate to fly all the way up there for nothing. I tried to contact the BLVNPT directly but I couldn't get anyone on the phone and hold times are INSANE.

Has anyone ever done this? Can you tell me what your process was? I would be flying up from Los Angeles.

They've stopped letting people do this because word got out and they got overwhelmed. :dead: Several of us talked about it, as we're about 1.5-2 hours from Sac, but that's what the word is now.

Hmmm now I'm really confused...I just got off the phone with someone from the BLVNPT (after sitting on hold for 58 minute 0_o) and was told all I needed to bring was my pass letter, photo id and payment...but now you are saying they don't do it anymore...Do you think I got someone who has no idea what they are talking about? I'm going to be mad if I buy an airline ticket and fly all the way up there for nothing...Should I call again? When were you given this info?

I just went to Sacramento a month ago. There were only a couple other people there and we all got our issues resolved. (I couldn't help overhearing their situations since they were ahead of me in line lol). If they give you any trouble just wait and ask to speak with the supervisor. That seems to get things solved more often than not.

Awesome thanks!! Did you go down to get your license? What did you take with you?

I know on the endorsement site it stated that they are no longer issuing temp license at the BON office but I am not sure if thats only if you are endorsing a license. I know its a pain in the butt but maybe you can try calling again -do it 8am and hopefully your wait shouldn't be that long and see if their answer matches the prev response.

I know that the RN Board can't issue temp licenses at the desk anymore, apparently the BVNPT can. And remember that they're two separate entities. Make sure you've contacting the correct board for the correct answer. Hope everything goes well for you and have a great (and smooth) trip to Sacramento. When you arrive in Sacramento, remember that during the "typical" commute times the Highway 50 / 99 interchange and the I-5 / 50 interchange can get very busy though your delay getting through the area is usually no more than about 20 minutes.

Okay thanks! I will call them again first thing in the morning to double check.

Just an update for those who where considering making the trip also. I went this passed weekend and got my temp license on Monday. I got their bright and early at 8am, was the first person in the office and was in and out in 6 minutes flat. Super easy process. They told me since I walked my paperwork in I should get my hard copy license in 3 weeks but my temp one is valid for 90 days.

So just clarifying things- Did you go to Sacramento to get temp endorsement RN license?

I picked up my temp license in Sac. This was feb this year. My job accepted it the same day. It took another few weeks to see my name online.

This was for LVN.
