Los Angeles County Allied School of Nursing

U.S.A. California

Hello I am applying to LAC Allied School of Nursing for the Fall 2013 semester ADN program. I was wondering if any body else is applying to this school for the fall 2013 semester or if there is anybody that currently attends or has attended this school that has any advice or opinions about this school. Any feedback would greatly be appreciated. Thank you in advanced.

tgcid00-

I hope we get in too!!! I have all my eggs in the County basket! People said I should apply to other schools, but I only want to attend County. I am willing to earn extra points by volunteering or retaking my humanities to get into County so I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed that I get in!

Hello just wanted to see if anyone has heard anything from county yet. I got an acceptance letter from LATTC yesterday. They want me to give them a response as soon as possible if I will be attending there nursing program for this fall. My first choice is LAC Allied but I haven't heard anything yet. Their website says acceptance letter will be sent out by may 15. If anyone hears anything from county could you post about it thanks everyone :).

Hey tgcid00,

LA County Allied is my first choice too. I got accepted to Rio Hondo, but if county accepts me, Ill have to go with County. I was hoping we would get our letters before the 15th but I guess not :/

Yeah no word county oh well. If I get accepted to county I'm definitely going. For now though I'm happy that at least I have been accepted somewhere :) Congrats on getting into Rio Hondo I didn't know they had a nursing program. How is Rio Hondos program?

Does anyone know if you have taken TEAS elsewhere, would you just send in that score OR would you be required to take it at the school and that would be counted as your first try? I'm from the SD region, scored a 68% first try in March/13. Thanks! And what do you think of an overall score of 79/93 in the case that they do take my 68% score-definitely not competitive, but hopeful?

I'm not sure about teas, but you would have to reside in LA County for a year before applying. Also, I believe the cut off for points was around 84 for the last semester. On the county's website it says that points required for acceptance has been between 80 and 82. Hopefully you can retake the teas, so you can get more points. If you plan on residing in LA County before applying.

From what I've seen on here, the county is slow at sending out acceptance letters. County takes patience and they are worth the wait :)

You can send your results via the TEAS website just choose LACCAN (I don't remember the exact name call the school for the exact initials) and tell the school you are sending them your score. County is pretty competitive so you would need good grades in order to offset your TEAS score but I believe they would give you 10 or 15 pts for your score (check their website for the exact score) well hope you get in take care :)

I am anxiously awaiting for word from County. So is county as good as they say?

smyleeRN, can you direct me to where it says you have to be a resident of LA for a year before applying? That's crazy! Also do you know when this school will allow you to retake the TEAS and be exempt from all your other tries so you can still get the 20 points?

I'm not sure about taking the teas for sure. This is what I found on their website:

TEAS V may be repeated once during the next application period and the higher overall score will be used for the selection process. Calculators may NOT be used for the test.

Students who completed TEAS V at another location must request the exam results be sent to this nursing program by ATI.

I would call them and ask. They also have information sessions that you can go to and they will explain everything and answer any questions you may have.
