LAC+USC interview new grad RN

U.S.A. California

Published

Hey guys, I have a question. I had an interview with LAC+USC and received a letter that I passed the oral exam. I read in the letter that they are going to contact me if positions open up. I am a new grad RN. Have you been in my situation? How long does it take until they call you? Do we have another interview after the oral interview or this is it? Please share your experience with me..thank you

May I ask how you went about applying for that position? I'm having a hard time finding information on applying as a new grad. Is it true that you have to go to ladhs.org website, fill out a general app, which puts you on a list... then wait for them to contact you? I'm just confused.

Also, what was the whole process like? Are you working there now?

Hi Sross1117! I have an interview coming up. How did it go? What were the questions like? Thanks in advance!

Nurse_Jaydee: I had an interview with them on Monday. They made me sign a confidentiality waiver, so I can't tell you anything. Don't worry too much though; if you graduated from a nursing program, you'll be fine :)

How long did it take for them to contact you for an interview? I heard it is a very long process and I applied a few weeks ago! Thanks!

I got a letter in the mail about two months after I applied. I actually forgot that I HAD applied there until I got the letter. It just said that I had been scheduled for an interview for a certain date and to call the nurse recruiter to confirm.

After the interview, you have to wait 4-6 weeks to see if you passed it. If you did, you get put on an "eligibility" list and can then call around to the county facilities to see if they are hiring. If they are and are interested in you, they'll set up another interview. It's a long and convoluted process but worth it if you get a job, I guess :)

Thanks for the info. I heard they are actually starting to hire and they "lifted" the hiring freeze! Good luck!

Quick question, are you able to say how long the interview was? Thanks!

The letter says to allow at least an hour. I think mine took about 45 minutes

The interview is about an hour. It's with a nurse recruiter, and it's great practice because they ask you several questions that made me realize I wasn't ready with answers. Google nursing interviews and know your examples of situtaions. While I was there, several people had called in from this eligibility list and it sounded like they were currently only hiring for the ICU.
