LA Pierce College Nursing Students...feedback

  1. 0 I was just accepted into LA Pierce College's Generic ADN program for fall 2013 and I am just curious as to how current or former nursing students liked the program? Are the resources and instructors good? There really is not much posted about this program on allnurses...any feedback would be appreciated!! Thank you!

Hey! I decided I'll just write about pierce on this post instead of posting it through the Pcc one. So I asked my cousin's friend who went to Pierce. She said that the first semester teachers are kind of tough, but it's a good thing because they get us well prepared for the following semesters! She said some professors during first semester can be verbally abusive during clinical, but don't let that get to you. It made her stronger and learned a lot more. She's making me nervous! Lol. But I'm ready for this. I mean this is what we've been waiting for, and now that we are in we shouldn't let all the negative feedbacks bother us!

Thanks for giving some feedback from your cousin's friend. I feel more reassured of my decision (not that I had a lot of options!). I'm ready as well. I definitely don't expect it to be easy and that's true, it's good to have some instructors that give more challenge and seem a little tough, you learn from it. I'm so excited!

I called the Nursing Dept Office today and we should receive our information packets in June...I guess they wait until everything is finalized to mail out the requirements before fall.

...I'm kinda confused because I got the email about the health assessment and it looks like they are revising a requirement and will be sending a different form and then in the email it said all other requirements for the fall will be mailed in June...but then I got an email from Pierce (not the nursing dept) for my fall registration date/time. I guess we can go ahead register for classes before receiving the info.?

I just emailed Karla to see whether or not we can register or wait until June...I'll keep you posted.

Yeah. My registration date is may 28, but we won't be getting the info packets until June so I was confused if I should register before? Or wait till after I receive the info? Yeah, keep me posted please. Thank you did you look up the schedule for fall 2013 yet?

Hi! So Karla emailed me back and said "That email was sent from A&R. I have to code you first on the system. You’ll be able to register sometime in June after I send out all the info. Nursing classes are only for admitted students"....so looks like we wait until June. I haven't checked the schedule of classes yet...but it looks like we have 4 classes first semester based on the program website (going to be busy!)

I accepted a spot @ moorpark for Fall 2013, but I just got an email today from Pierce saying I was accepted by them as well. As far as I know Moorpark has a great program, but Pierce is like 3 miles from my house, whereas Moorpark is like 30 lol...

Wow! Congratulations! I heard Moorpark has a good RN program as well. I haven't seen the campus, but I'm sure its as nice as Pierce. I would compare NCLEX pass rates to start and overall organization of the program and the classes, what hospitals do they do clinicals at, etc. that's just what I would do. Living 3 miles away is a huge plus, but the program you will benefit the most from is important...I wanted to apply to Moorpark, but they didn't accept some of my pre-reqs It looks like a great program, but let us know what you decide!!
