Does anyone know about how long it takes after the interview process to start orientation with Kern Medical Center?

Any info on the likes or dislikes of the facility? I can't find any info from 2014 such as pay, if they hire new grads, really anything. Thanks guys!

Yes see you at orientation!

Quick question - does anyone know whether they are being hired for full time or part time? I was under the impression that it was full time and now I'm not so sure because no where on my paperwork did it specify full time and when I asked, the lady said we would meet our managers on Monday and that's when they would tell us that.

I was wondering the same thing. I did ask about the hours since it says "rotating shifts", the response I received stated I may be working days or nights or both depending on my preceptor. I'm hoping they explain more about full / part time and benefits. I have to go get my fingerprinting done this week so I may ask a few questions while I am there, maybe HR has some answers.

I actually did my fingerprinting today and that's what they told me when I asked...that we will find out on Monday. :S

That's all they were able to tell you? Hmm. Monday can't come soon enough I guess. I am very tempted to ask about the sign on bonus I read about.. I don't know how to approach the question, but I am definitely going to ask! :) Do you already have your license? I know I was hired on as pre-licensed, which I thought we all we, but I do have my license so I wonder how that works as far as pay and everything. I do hope all this is covered on Monday, if not sometime throughout the week. I have never been inside the hospital itself so I am very excited to see what it's like!

I am licensed! Took my NCLEX in march!

Yeah definitely something to ask about. I think they said I would work for 2 weeks at the Prelicensed pay then switch the the Staff Nurse I pay / title, but again I'm going to ask to make sure!

when you were interviewed, was it group? how long and what type of questions asked?...your response will be greatly appreciated:)

Hi! I was wondering if you're still working there and whether they still take new grads in ED?

If so, what was your experience like?

Specializes in NICU, RNC.

I don't work there, I'm a 4th semester student, but I did my last clinical rotation there, and they do hire new RN grads in ED. They will also let you start before you get your license. One of my good friends went to pinning and then started working at KM the following Monday as a pre-licensed RN in the ED! Good luck! It's a super interesting hospital to work in!
