Kaiser New Grad Program

U.S.A. California

Updated:   Published

Hello, I am interested in applying to Kaiser locations in Southern California as a new grad (I will be graduating in May). I have not been able to find any info about when applications post, what hospitals have new grad programs, and what is the process for applying (the jobs listed at Working at Kaiser Permanente - Kaiser Permanente all seem to require at least a year of experience).

Does anyone know if there is a central Kaiser application for new grads, or do I apply to each hospital directly?

Any other info about this process would be very much appreciated!

Thanks

I heard there is a New grad residency opening up on the 9th for Kaiser Anaheim, but I'm not positive about that.

Other than that, the few positions for new grads that have been open recently were titled "Inexperienced RN" at Anaheim and LA in December. You basically have to check their job board every single day because they disappear after a few hours since they get TONS of apps. Interviews are going on this week for those facilities.

I think you should know someone to get into there as a new grad

Thanks for the info. I'll try to keep searching Inexperienced RN, but it would be helpful to know approximately when their applications open up for starting in the summer. Perhaps I can speak to HR?

Although it would be a perfect world to know in advance when Kaiser opens up their new grad "inexperienced" RN app, I doubt we will ever know.

It is one of the hospitals where you have to check every day, possibly multiple times per day.

Like said earlier, the application will post at odd times for a very short period.

It's a grind looking for job postings and there are no free handouts. Put in the time!

Kaiser applications open very briefly, so you have to be diligent about checking their website. Sometimes they list the position as "Inexperienced" rather than "New Grad," fyi. The New Grad RN calendar shows the next training will be in October, 2018. Kaiser tends to hire from within, and employees of other KP locales (LA, Northern CA, etc.) who are transferring will also be competing for spots. The interview process is rather bizarre, too. I don't know if it's changed, but the training used to take place at various locations, not just the location at which you were hired.

What others have said is true. They first open applicants within their system. There are ER techs, CNAs and MAs within the system who frequently finish RN school and wait for those postings. They get first dibs because they hire from within first. I've known Er techs who worked outside jobs for a year as an RN and still work as a tech cuz they do not want to lose their seniority when they finally get that RN gig. It is very hard to get a new grad job without knowing someone or already working there. If you do its because your family or good friend of someone in the hospital system.
