Okay you guys. I FINALLY have a name for the blog. New Grads Need Not Apply is already taken and Meriwhen suggested Catch-22 but that's taken too. The new name is (drum roll please....)*** **** ******** I can't post the link per TOS but I'm thinking about double blogging on both my Blogger and AN. Or put my new posts in this thread. I'm also trying to figure out if it's against the TOS to post links to AN in my blog.
First of all you all need to go to this link. An has hooked up with CNN for a report on this very subject. Go here and share your story!
New Grad Nurses struggling to find job - CNN Reporter wants to hear from you
Are you a new grad struggling to find a job? A CNN reporter wants to hear about your challenges. Click here to relate your experience.

You can blog here....on AN! as Commuter suggested. It must ......

    • must have a minimum of 400 words.
    • No plagiarism - must be written in your own words.
    • For your protection, do not post names, phone numbers, or email addresses.
    • No advertising, insults, or personal attacks.
    • Articles/posts/entries must be unique. Articles/posts/entries should not be listed on other websites, blogs, etc.
    • You grant permission to allnurses.com rights to publish in books, etc. You will be notified and credited if published.
    • Keep personal formatting choices such as font (size/type) to a minimum - use only for headings.

Because you asked......You can't double post but you may mention AN on your blog.....but, I'm sorry, you can't mention your blog here (not even the name) in the forums (advertising/solicitation/self promotion)....but.....you may have your blog on your home page

Thanks again Esme12! No more blog promotion and I appreciate being so nice and not screaming at me with attitude. I think I will post a few articles here and there on AN but not blogging.

For those that have been part of this thread, maybe I'll include all you mystery guests, I'm willing to share my job spreadsheet with everyone. It's mostly complete, but I have information about new grad programs and whether or not a hospital is hiring new grads. I have almost every hospital in the state on my list. It's something to help.
Thanks for the welcome kenderella89! I think I've also run across a post of yours in the New Grad RN CA+ Facebook page as well. Another great resource other than this board of course. Just wondering if I could take a look at your spreadsheet to see if I missed any hospitals? Thanks a lot!

And congrats to Coriander who I also remember from the Scripps thread. You deserve this opportunity!!

No problem! I'm still tweaking it and it's not in sharing mode yet! I've been lazy and I'll finish it by next week. I think I may upload it to Google Drive to share it. As an FYI I based my hospitals through a list on Wikipedia.

Thank you kenderella89 for starting this thread and for the help regarding the PHN certificate, I just filled out my application and will be sending it in as soon as I get my official transcript. How long did it take you to get the certificate?

Thank you for the help! I will send in my application as soon as I get my transcript

@ helpmepassNCLEX-to get a PHN cert you had to have graduated from a BSN program then need to apply for a PHN to the BRN and pay the fee. I'm not sure about San Diego Co but if you look up their county website it would show any openings. I have done volunteer nursing in Nicaragua also and loved it! Good luck! -let me know if you have any other questions.

You welcome! It took about 5 to 6 weeks. It's good to send it with the transcript because some people in my class didn't. Since a transcript is sent for our NCLEX they thought they didn't need to send it again. But it took them 2+ months to get it. I called the BON and they said it takes longer because after we are approved for NCLEX the transcript is sent to records. When a transcript isn't sent with the PHN app they have to request the transcript from records which takes an additional 6 to 7 weeks on top of the 6 to 7 it takes to process the PHN. Remember to update your resume when you get it!

You guys I woke up in such a grouchy mood today Or hormonal. Whatever you want to call it. I didn’t feel like job searching or doing nothing. I was just depressed and angry that it’s a New Year and again nothing. I was not a happy cupcake. Until my little cousin ended up hurting herself a little earlier. She’s okay and it was nothing a little ice pack and a Hello Kitty band aid couldn’t fix. She asked me if she needed a shot. I told her no and brought her some orange juice. She hugged me and kissed me on the check and told me I’m the best nurse ever. I looked like this on the outside but in the inside I felt . I made my behind go upstairs and I ended up applying to a few jobs. I’m going to find a job. It may not be today or tomorrow, but I’m the best nurse ever and the best job ever is just waiting for me.
