CSUS Fall '11 Hopefuls....??

U.S.A. California

Hello!

I was wondering if anyone is/has applied to CSUS for Fall '11. If so, what are your points looking like? How did you do on the TEAS exam (pretty tough huh?) I want to compare info!!! :D

I know someone last year who was 39th on the wait list and got an email late June that he was accepted. He had already accepted elsewhere at his first choice school. So even if you don't get in initially you might move up the waitlist quicker at CSUS than other schools.

I haven't heard anything. The waiting is so hard!! I think it will be harder to get in this year compared to last year, since they are letting 2nd Bachelor students in this time. (like me :))

All - I went to a Pre-Nursing advising session at Sac State today. We were told that there are 333 applicants for Fall 2011. It is a strong applicant pool because 2nd bachelor students were allowed to apply (after 3 semesters of not being able to). They think the point cut-off will be higher than Fall 2010, which was 56 points.

She said that they hope to have admission decisions made by April 29, but that may not happen. Apparently, they lost administrative staff, and were not able to replace those people due to budget cuts, so it is taking longer to go through the applications. They used to have 8 people to do this, now they only have 3.

They will admit 80 students.

That's all I know! April 29 isn't that far off - hopefully they will be able to make the decision close to then!!

Good luck everyone!!!

Thanks for all the great info! I just got my letter from CSU Chico yesterday, I didn't get in and I am 27 on the waitlist(they only took 40). Did anyone applying to CSUS get in to Chico?? I had 82 points and the cutoff was 83. All I have left to hear from is Sac State, so I am really hoping I get in!! If I can't get in anywhere with a 4.0, that is really discouraging!! I wonder just how much higher the point cutoff will be? I think I have 77 points. Crossing my fingers for everyone!

I didn't get into Chico either and I'm #23 on the waitlist. I had 82 points as well :-/ I'm still waiting on Sac State (my first choice) and Long beach. I feel really discouraged because I didn't get into Chico and I thought it would be easier to get into their program than Sac State's program. I also just found out I didn't get into Sac City or American River, which had over 1200 applicants!! I can't believe you didn't get into Chico with a 4.0! That's crazy! I feel like this has been the most competitive round of nursing applicants.

I too have a 4.0 GPA and was rejected by both Chino and SFSU. The only schools I'm waiting to hear word on is Sac State & CSULB also...I have 79 points for CSUS and a 93.3 for CSULB. Good luck to all! 10 more days......

Hello Potential Classmates!!

So my GPA is 3.87-something and I got a 92.4% on the TEAS, with the extra points I'm at an 81. I did get accepted to Chico with an 85, but my best friend didn't make it in (3.7,86%), and their 3-year program is not my first choice anyway. It's nice to know I have something to fall back on, but I would really like to go to Sac State. 333 applicants is a large pool, but I'm guessing the point cut-off will still be in the 70's based on prior statistics and the fact that they are now accepting 80 students. Just for some encouragement I'll tell you that my bestie applied to CS East Bay and they get somewhere around 900(whoa!) applicants each semester, and even though she didnt make it on Chico's waiting list at all, she placed high on East Bay's. They told her that out of 75 people who were on the waitlist last semester, 55 of them ended up being admitted. So there is definetly hope even if your score isn't great! One more week of torture to go! Let me know if you make it in!

Best of Luck,

Alexis

Hi Lexy S, I am curious to know how your friend knew what position she is on East Bay's waitlist. I too am on the waiting list for East Bay. Thanks.

@MattMa,

She called East Bay up, and for some reason they won't tell you your exact position on the waitlist, but they will tell you if you are near the top, middle or bottom. There's only 75 people on the waitlist, so if you are in the middle of the list or better, you're in pretty good shape to get in. Good luck!

Thank you Lexy S. I really appreciate your reply. Good Luck to you as Well!

Friday please come fast!! AHH!

Thanks for all the information Lexy!! It's nice to know the Stats of other nursing programs in the area, and congrats on getting into Chico State!

not to be a "downer" but does anyone think that what happened at CSULB for Fall 11 admissions will happen at CSUS. i.e. CSULB at the last minute (about a week before they said they would post who was accepted into the program) decided to significantly cut the number of external transfers who could be admitted into their BSN program due to budge cuts. out of the original 90 spots available for their incoming class, only 25 spots were given to external transfers w/ the rest of the spots allowed for their students only. Further, only CSULB students could be put on the waitlist. I just can't imagine how CA budget cuts can affect one CSU BSN admission so much while not affecting others as well during the same admissions cycle.

...just saying this b/c I'm sure lots of us have an idea of where we stand in our chances of getting into CSUS based on Fall 10 stats, but that may not be the case this time...i hope not. i guess we'll find out tommorrow....
