CSULA Fall 2015 Nursing Applicants (BSN BASIC)

U.S.A. California

Published

I've been reading the thread of CSULA Fall 2014 nursing applicants & wanted to start one for this upcoming CSULA Fall of 2015. I am extremely eager to know how many points people have. I have 24pts & am going to retake my TEAS this upcoming November. Those who are interested as well, please don't be afraid to comment!

It's been very quiet here. Here are my updated stats and the stuff I will be applying with:

Overall GPA: 3.92 = 10 pts

Prereq GPA: 4.0 = 5 pts

TEAS Reading - 4 pts

TEAS English/Grammar - 4 pts

Volunteer - 100+ Hours - 2 pts

Total = 25 pts

Hope this info can be helpful to anyone interested. As I've heard, 23/24 is enough to be accepted. So that's something good to know.

I'm a little lost - is the point system you guys are calculating your points with posted on the CSULA nursing website?

Wow! When did CSULA institute this particular point system? It's so different than when I applied there! ?

As far as I know, the point system has been in effect for quite a few years. You can find the information for this at School of Nursing - Application - BSN Basic

Some people apply blindly to the school without knowing how the scoring criteria for admission is. That's why many schools, including csula, lay it all out for people to see how they score / what they're looking for. It's best to be aware and understand how it works, rather than just applying and not knowing. That way, it will eliminate any possible confusion and for people to be realistic about what to expect (although praying won't hurt either!). Hope this helps. Calculate your possible score and see what you got and share it with us!

around what time did you email them for your points? thanks for all your help!!

I didn't email them. Like everyone else, I went to their website and clicked on their information links and calculated the score myself. Here's the link School of Nursing - Application - BSN Basic

Calculate what you got and share it with us. Hope this helps. I genuinely wish everyone here the best of luck, and perhaps one day we will be in it together.

Hello everyone! My plan was to apply for Fall 2015, however my points aren't even close to where I want it to be. So I will be spending the next year raising my GPA and retaking my TEAS to get the best scores I can attain, and hopefully then Ill have at least 25 points or more. I wish everyone the best of luck.

Application deadline is coming up!…sooo nervous! :nailbiting:

Your stats are a little confusing. As I've read on the website the Prerequistite GPA is worth 10 points, Overall GPA is worth 5 points. Either way if you switched them around you still have really nice looking points.

Also, calculating your GPA can be disappointing seeing that CSULA count the plus and minus as well. Ex:

A = 4.0

A- = 3.7

B+ = 3.3

B- = 2.7 and so on...

Yes, you are right. I looked at the wrong sections on their "Must read info". Thanks for catching that. Here is the correct info.:

Overall GPA: 3.92 = 5 pts

Prereq GPA: 4.0 = 10 pts

TEAS Reading - 4 pts

TEAS English/Grammar - 4 pts

Volunteer - 100+ Hours - 2 pts

Are you a student at csula currently? As stated on my first post, I am coming from a community college within the LA area, where we do not do +/- grades, only a solid letter grade. This is why the gpa I had put down here appears that way, because it is strictly calculated as a solid grade. And like you said, because of csula's grading scheme, it's quite different compared to community college grades. So all in all, I am going to give the benefit of the doubt and assume they will score current students at csula different than a transfer student (which I am). I have heard different people say that they usually look highly upon people who live within CSULA's area and from surrounding community colleges. Sometimes, they may favor and accept more transfers, other times, they accept more of their own current students. So overall, you still have a very good chance in getting in. I hope I have a good chance as well.

Gonna try to physically go there and hand in mine next week! Hope you get yours in soon.

Yes, I am currently a CSULA student. I've taken all of my pre-requisites there. I'm turning in mine this week. Good luck!
