Anyone Applying to Antelope Valley College RN program

U.S.A. California

Published

I didn't see a thread on AVC nursing so I just made one for everyone. IS anyone applying to AVC nursing or in the program already? The person working at the department told me it would be like 3 semester waits. I'm expecting to get in around fall 2011 or spring 2012 since I turn in my application around October 2010. Anyone in the program already, would you please share your experience. Anyone who is about to get in the program, can you please tell me how long you've waited since the time you turn in the application?

Thanks everyone!!!

Email me at my AVC email and then ill reply with my private one (I just don't want to post it on here :) )

I applied to the RN program in mid June after final grades posted. I was also told mid September they would process the apps. :( just anxious! We should keep in touch & update each other! [email protected]

Good luck!

Have you started studing for the TEAS? If they process the apps. you only get about 4 weeks to study before the test. I applied mid-June and just waiting too.

Did you get a letter in the mail from them? I applied early may and just got a letter in the mail saying my teas date is October 10th.

I applied in June to AVC. I contacted the nursing department to find out what my status was in August. The lady said that they would be updating the wait list in November and won't start contacting new applicants until Spring 2014. From there, she said that it would be a 2 year wait list. Such a long wait period! I hope everyone who has/is applying have back up plans, unless this is the only school you really want to get into.

Are you doing the generic program or LVN bridge? I am doing the bridge and was told I'm number 33 and am taking the TEAS October 10

I applied to the generic program.

That's wonderful that you're so close on the wait list! Good luck on your future venture. :)

OMG! Two-year wait list!! It's so scary. Hope I get in the Spring semester. I don't want to wait!!

I also noticed they cut one class they used to take 60 students for the generic. My co-worker said, she heard a rumor that they will evetually close the program. I really hope is not true.

@3rd Watch- do you have other schools that you're applying to for Spring 2014? I only say that because I personally don't like the idea of placing all my eggs in one basket, so to speak.

If AVC really is going to cut the whole program as a whole, that would be tragic! The next closest school for an ADN program would be COC or Bakersfield, depending which direction you take.

Crossing my fingers for all of us!

We should be able to go in the program. Just in case try the two schools nearby (COC & Bakersfield) ...but most likely you'll get in in the next class (Spring 2014). After that I don't know. I work at Henry Mayo and the rumor is going around. I don't know:scrying:
