I was doing some research on http://www.ameriburn.org/ and reading as to where the top burn centers are. Can anyone shed any light on maybe the top 10 best in the nation are? or where to find that answer?

University Medical Center in Lubbock TX. Only level one facility in a 500 mile radius. We serve all of south eastern New Mexico and West Texas and are verified burn center for both Peds and Adult. We are in oil field country and see massive full body burns and have excellent results. I float to BICU every now and again.... They are a breed of their own down there.

Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton OH has an excellent burn program. They are the Regional Adult Burn Center for southwest OH and a Level 1 trauma center, so we get full-body, huge burns. Our unit is segregated from the rest of the hospital and we are the ICU and the advanced care/step down...admission to discharge! We have our treatment rooms (like an OR for dressing changes) right on the unit. Quite challenging work with difficult patients and complex social issues, but also very rewarding. I love being a burn center nurse!

I have no doubt that the hospitals mentioned in the thread are terrific, especially for adult care. But I am a firm believer that Shriner's are the leaders in the field of burns for children. They do amazing work.

MetroHealth in Cleveland has a the only burn ICU in the northeast, maybe even entire northern half of Ohio. Metro is known for their trauma and burn care. It's also a great place to work because you get state benefits.

No they aren't!! Akron Children's is a well-known, we'll-respected large regional burn center that takes both adults and children. Their burn unit, which includes a burn triage room ( mini ED really) and ICU beds, has been around at least since the late 1970's. Patients bypass the ED and get emergency care right in the unit by nurses and doctors who are specially trained in burn care.
My apologies regarding the part about Metro being the only one in the area but they are known for their burn and trauma units....and they have been around since the turn of the 20th century.

Richard M. Fairbanks Burn Center at Eskenazi Health in Indianapolis, IN is a phenomenal burn center. Eskenazi (formerly Wishard) is a Level 1 Trauma Center and is (I believe) Indiana's only adult burn center. Riley Hospital for Children, Indiana's only Level 1 Peds Trauma Center, also does Pediatric burns.

Their burn unit has also only been around since the 1970's not since the turn of the century.
I meant Metro as a whole
Gotcha. It's a great hospital and northeast Ohio is lucky to have it. Acutally, Ohio as a whole is fortunate that most of their larger hospital systems have an extremely long history of serving the public's medical needs.

Harborview Medical Center in Seattle,WA. As a burn survivor who was treated there, it is the only level one trauma center in the PNW.
