GCC/NAU Concurrent Program

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Hi, everyone

I was accepted into the Concurrent Program at GCC in the fall but starts this summer with the NAU class. I was wanting to know if there was anyone else on here who got accepted? :) I hope everyone who wanted in got in.:yeah:

I'm on the waiting list to get into the nursing program. The one where you get a date/time stamp.

Have you been to the info sessions or advisement sessions for the new program? they are listed on the maricopa status page

You can talk to some of the advisors at the NAU for extended campuses and they have to enter you in the class because the seats are reserved for students admitted into the program. I am taking NUR 330 this summer. Is anyone else?

Yeah, I finally got some answers. I'm attending one of the transfer days that is listed on the status page on maricopa's website. Please update us to let us know how that NUR330 class is. I might be taking it in the Fall. Thanks! Also thanks everyone else!

Kamsmom and Flutterby230,

I am currently on the waitlist as well and am curious what the average GPA's are for the people who got accepted into the Fall concurrent cohort. Can I ask what your total GPA is for those specific classes that are asterisked to be accepted into the concurrent program?

I had a 3.72. Not very many people jumped on the first info session which was surprising, so I know one person with a 3.0 who actually was on the alternate list. Just work hard and stay on top of the emails they send out because the sessions offered fill up right away.

kamsmom--

Were you on the waitlist long before being accepted into this program?

No I just got on the waitlist Dec 2010. Most of the people that got in had been on it for a year or more. I was planning on applying to ASU for the fall which is why I already had a lot of the pre-reqs. I only placed myself on the waitlist as a back up plan and when I heard of this program, I was excited because it is cheaper and closer to me.

For this program, at least for now, the waitlist time/date stamp does not matter. Your hesi A2 score, gpa and pre-reqs are what matters, similar to ASU and GCU except you take the TEAS for admission at those schools.

Thanks for the info! Did you have all your prereqs for both schools complete before you applied?

No problem. I like to help. I actually did not have all my pre-reqs complete and was accepted on provisional status, meaning as long as my classes were complete before the program started, I was fine. They only wanted people to come to the January info session who were done, but I went anyway because I needed a plan. I met 5 other people in my shoes and most of us got in with a good gpa. I have had to take 17 credit hours this semester, but it will be worth it not to wait. Now that so many people are interested, it will only get more competitive. Many of my current classmates are adding summer school in so they can apply for the schools that are doing it in January.

Congrats to all who got in!! I'm excited to meet everyone.

Like kamsmom, I too applied for ASU (Summer Program) but wasn't accepted. I actually got accepted to the CEP before I even heard anything about ASU (They lost my application or something).

I would have liked to finish my college career at ASU but Nursing school is nursing school.

Good luck to everyone!! We'll let you know how our "guinea pig" class goes!
