  1. Hi everyone! I was accepted into the MCC/NAU CEP for Spring 2012 I am enrolled in NUR 330 at NAU's extended campus North Valley starting September 29th. I am curious to hear from the Fall 2011 cohort who just finished NUR 330 and began Block 1 this fall. How is it going guys? Any suggestions for NUR 330 and how to be prepared for Block 1? Any details would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, kc1986
  2. Positive Minds- I also got my acceptance letter for MCC! I am so excited! Has anyone heard from the students that completed NUR 330 already? Can't wait to meet our cohort!
  3. Snowbunny12, Will you elaborate for me on what you don't like? Or why you wouldn't recommend CGCC? Thanks!:) kc1986
  4. Thanks for the response kamsmom! I talked to one of the nursing advisors at MCC and she said because this was the first run for the program that GPA didn't play into it that much. She does imagine though after this fall cohort that the average GPA will be about a 3.50 or higher. Congrats to all who got it. I look forward to hearing about your experiences!
  5. I'm sorry I forgot one: Microbiology BIO 205* *Courses used for GPA calculation **Or meet MCCCD Arizona General Education Curriculum (AGEC) certificate or a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited school.
  6. Kamsmom and Flutterby230, I am currently on the waitlist as well and am curious what the average GPA's are for the people who got accepted into the Fall concurrent cohort. Can I ask what your total GPA is for those specific classes that are asterisked to be accepted into the concurrent program? 7. Hello everyone!, I had a question: Is it possible to apply to Gateway's LPN fast track program and also apply for the original Maricopa Community College RN program? I am thinking of applying for both and seeing which gets me in faster. I understand there is at least a 2 year wait for the traditional RN programs but possibly only a year wait for the LPN program. In my logic I could get into an LPN program faster and then once I complete the program I could work as an LPN while I wait to get into the RN program. I also know that there could be at least a year wait to be placed as an LPN into an RN program but I could see it as I am working at a higher wage than as a CNA (which I currently am) and gain some great experience to put towards getting an RN job once I complete the program. SO TO BREAK IT DOWN, HERE IS HOW I SEE MY OPTIONS: A) WORK AS A CNA FOR THE NEXT 2+ YEARS WHILE WAITING TO GET INTO THE RN PROGRAM B) WORK AS A CNA FOR THE NEXT YEAR WHILE WAITING TO GET INTO THE LPN PRGRAM, FINISH THE PROGRAM AND WORK AS AN LPN FOR A YEAR WHILE WAITING TO GET INTO THE RN PROGRAM. Either way I believe there will be 2 years of waiting, it's just a matter of WHEN that waiting is occurring :) What are your guys' thoughts?? Thanks and hope to hear from all of you! Krista

  9. Thank you both for your responses. I went to the information session tonight and spoke with the advisor who presented and he said with the GPA of those bad prereqs there really is no way I will be able to get in. So I have to find a different route I guess. He did say that U of A has a new program for second degree students where they can earn their BSN in 12 months because they overlook all prereqs except nursing courses so I may look more into that. Thanks again for the information. You guys really helped! Krista
  10. Hi everybody, I currently am graduating in May with a Bachelor's of Arts in Psychology. I am 23 years old and started college when I was 17. When I first started I was a nursing major at Mesa Community College and wasn't quite ready for school, hence my first 15 classes all turned out with B's and C's. I am realizing that this is going to impede on my goal of getting into ASU's Nursing Program because it's so competitive with prereqs GPA and the NET score. I am not financially capable of redoing all of these classes to get better grades. So I guess my question is how can I get around these bad grades? Can some of my classes from my first degree replace the bad ones from before? Can the NET score outweigh the prerequisites GPA? Does anyone know someone that I can talk to at ASU about this specific problem? Any suggestions or questions would be SO helpful! Thanks! Krista
