Verah interesting........

Looks to me like it's a separate application process. Don't know what the wait list is like for it, but for those of you on the waitlist for the RN program, it might not hurt to apply here too. You qualify.

i had everything to turn in my rn bridge but i was a few points short on the hesi it sucks cuz apparently u have to wait to take the hesi a second time for a grand total of six months which really got me mad. yes i heard if u got all your stuff together for rn chances are youd get in alot of ppl were waiting on the fignerprint clearance card. sucks. Im wating for my dates for nclex so i can at least get my lpn and work as a nurse there as i wait for rn hopefully i get in in august =/ when i can retake the hesi

hey pinklady, i was going to text you this but i spoke with someone from our block but morning, and she said that if you take your nclex and pass, you can go back to campus and take the hesi exit pn again right after.

she also said they may be opening another advanced placement in march, maybe others on this board, know more about this. so if that's true and you get to retake it, maybe you can bridge over for the new march one, you know if that's true.

that would be nice. i am waiting on my fingerprint card too! i apparently have the old style. in our block they actually allowed the students who did not make the 850 to bridge over retake their test without waiting for the 6 month between tests... if you are a squeaky wheel maybe since it was a few short points you could point this out? some were more than 100 points short!

I am worried about not getting the 850 that is required. Our instructor also told us that at Gateway they will take the highest Hesi scores first before everyone else, and then place the rest of the people. They are telling us that there is now a 1+ semester wait to get into block 3

what do you mean by opening another advanced placement in march? would the course star in march? or are they just trying to place people for fall at gateway? i'm worried. i ended up with a b in the 1st semester, but i'm so busy with my job this semester (teaching) and there is probably a lot more info this semester. we had 15 people fail block 1, so we only ended up with 25 out of 40 that had actually passed block 1 and went on to block 2. that seems crazy to me! there are 3 people in my class that are repeating block 2, making for a total of 28. our instructor told us that about 75% of the class normally gets 850 or higher on the hesi. is that true? can you retake the hesi again within another month or so and then try to advance to block 3? that would really stink to have to go to block 2 in the rn program and do block 2 all over again.

block 1 failure rate like that is actually pretty normal!! block 2 is more info as it consists of med/surg, ob and peds. but if you use this book as your study guide you will do very well hesi comprehensive review for the nclex-pn® examination, 3e (hesi comprehensive review f/ nclex-pn examination) by hesi

i of course used the version previous to this, however, it is the only book i actually opened for the entire semester. i studied from this book, the powerpoint and lecture notes and did very well.

if you use this book you will do very well on the hesi pn it really is not that hard. hesi is just filled with application and analysis questions.

good luck this term!

thank you for the information! i did already go ahead and purchase this book. the questions on this particular cd seem more challenging than the questions on the cd with the green nclex book. so how many people failed block 2 in your group? it does seem like a lot of new info so far with the iv information. was it hard to get 5 successful iv sticks

My class was the last block to have IV separate. I had to take an extra class to be able to get IV certified. Actually it wasn't hard at all to get 5 sticks. "Sticks" are counted a little different than you think. The hardest part for me was threading the catheter with 1 finger with confidence. The IV stuff isn't really that hard to learn it just seems like a foreign language until you start really getting to play around with it.

Block 2, I think we lost 5 or 6... those were the ones who did not come to class regularly though. Attendance was not strictly enforced as much as it was in Block 1.

They told us that we had to have 5 successful sticks. So we have to get 5 IV practicum sheets filled out. If we are unsuccessful, then it does not count towards 1 of the 5. I have heard horror stories about the particular clinical instructor that I have now, so I am terrified to start!

I think I'm having a hard time because it's all new to me. Changing a central line dressing sounds scary. I am also afraid of doing something that is considered outside our scope of practice since we will be working with an RN and the scope of practice is so different for IVs.

So for block 2, would you say the test/quizzes are comparable in difficulty to block 1? It seems like a lot more material. I did okay in block 1, and ended up with a high B, but I'm worried about all the information, getting a high enough score in the class and passing clinicals! I have heard that our particular clinical instructor singles people out, embarrasses them and belittles them, shows up late, and basically doesn't care at all about the students or the job. That is scary to me because we have so many skills to check off. I also heard that my particular clinical instructor writes people up who complain about her, trying to find the slightest thing wrong to write you up for if you complain about here being late or anything else.

Does anyone have any tips for making it through block 2? I'm worried because it's so much information!

Ok, I am new to this site. I am barely going to turn in my LPN application at Gateway this April. Does anyone know how long the wait is now? My sister turned hers in this past November, so I'm hoping it's a semester or 2. Thank you.

Does anyone know about the "march advance placement" at gateway?? If thats the case omg!
