EVIT LPN program in Mesa, AZ

I recently graduated from this school and now its another problem with them. One of the payments i made to the school is missing and my end of school balance to receive my certificate is incorrect around $700.00 now. This is really frustrating. The school is taking there time to respond to my complaint. The school sent me a 1098t with the correct amount i paid and now cause i complained they said they are sending me a corrected tax form with a lesser amount. They are pocketing my payment and now i have to go to my old bank and request my statements to sift through for the payment. I am beyond words with this school. I made a complaint to the Az attorney generals office and now i am going to the az board of education complaining process and irs for tax fraud since i made a payment and they are not reporting it. I am not the only student this happened to, the last class had issues as well. One of the students is suing the school. If you make a complaint against them they get hostile and try to screw you over. I just want my certificate and i am not paying one dime more than i owe. Please pick a different school and save yourself the headache.

We have been to Mesa Christian, Westchester, Springdale West, Restora Hospital, Mountain Vista Hospital for OB, we are going to go to Los Ninos next. To be honest with you, I do not believe Evit will be accepting any new students for the next program year. There has been a twist of events and new teachers that have changed my perspective of this school. State Board of Nursing had to come to our school and placed I believed 11 deficiencies against my school for the LPN Program. Unless they can fix those, which I believe will take some time, I do not believe they will be able to accept students again. This happened before at this school. We are basically teaching ourselves at this point. We are being tested on material that is on other chapters we have not yet read, answers on the test that are nowhere in the reading material, they are throwing out test questions after we complete, so making our scores lower if you had that question right because they didn't agree with the answer prior. The prior NCLEX pass rate for Evit's LPN program was 98%, at this rate, it will be much lower. The faculty has stated that we want our grades handed to us, and we have had them handed to us prior. I do not believe how rude the faculty has been to our class. There has been so much stress and crying because of this program. They have a meeting coming up with State Board and we are allowed to be present, which we will be. This program started out good and ever since the new teacher started making the tests, we have had nothing but trouble. OB is supposed to be the easiest class and its only 6 weeks, because LPN's can not work on an OB Floor. My prior teacher had stated that the State Board of Nursing was going to remove the OB section from the 2014 programs, due to not working in that area. My program at this school has gone to ****. I had loved this school and I am still trying my best since we have 39 class days of school. I made it this far, just need to keep on trucking. They should make fines for schools that cannot get it together.

My class had 24 when it started and at this point we have lost 5 and gained one who failed previously. We have 20 students and 64 class days left. I'm not sure how many apply, as when I tested there was around 34 people testing, and they had multiple testing dates. I believe 4 testing dates and the other 3 were full when I tried to enroll for those days. Sorry I take so long, this website doesn't send me notifications. I have to remember to check it more often.

Fyi....january start date has been changed to February. The last month to submit applications is October now. Just an fyi. I would study the ati practice tests online to ensure you get a good grade and some high school biology about cells and dna was on the scienece part. I received a 62 on my ati and anything 60 or higher was passing than, not sure if the score went up. This score will help tell where your strong points are. If you get below a 55 i would strongly suggest studying and retaking. They will not let you interview.

The schedule is very hard to maintain and believe me it does get hard some weeks to put in hours for work. I would try to save as much money as possible so when you need to study during the big chapter weeks, you can afford to not work and use your savings. I know it's easier said than done, but my whole class lives on a budget and once block 2 started money became a big issue for everyone. We had some leave due to not being able to do school and provide for their home, and sometimes you have to do what is best for your situation. They will be coming back for the next block 2 start date, so it's a good thing everything worked out for them. I currently work 2 PRN jobs and make my own schedule by the week. I am blessed to have that ability and I am really thankful. You could ask your Employer if you could work a PRN schedule if possible? Just a suggestion. Thank you.

We have class Monday thru Friday from 730am-11:45am. When you start clinicals it's either from 545am-1:45pm or 6:30am-2:30pm for Monday and Tuesdays and you resume the normal class schedule I listed Wednesday thru Friday. It all depends on which clinical site you are assigned to. One of my clinical instructors has been the best to learn from, not sure if we can use names so I will use his first initial, -------------. He is the best clinical instructor and breaks down everything for you. Also please remember towards the end of Block 2 the second half, your clinical rotation changes to 12 hour days on Thursdays and Fridays as we go to a Hospital setting for 6 weeks. You will be split into groups for the remainder of this time. So one group will go for 6 weeks while the rest stay in class for those 6 weeks with no clinicals. Great to have a break to work a little more to pay down your tuition. Any other questions, please post and I will be delighted to answer. I wish someone would've posted information like this for me so I could've known what to expect to ha! Best wishes to all who got in and are applying.

The job outlook is great right now. Lpns are always hiring in the correctional facilities and LTC. I already work at 2 LTC centers so I can just apply and transition in. I have spoke with them about it and they wrote down my end date like they have done for everybody else, so when a new job is available they can promote from within. I am also going to continue to RN school after I graduate. There are classes that go from 8 months to 12 extra months to be an RN. The community college is the cheapest route but they consider their students who failed a semester prior to you, which I believe is the right way to do it. Just turn in applications and self when you turn in your application.

Notecards and study groups are the key to success. Your study buddy may understand something you do not. My weak subject is anatomy, but I am great at math and critical thinking. My friend is great at anatomy, we helped each other out and it worked. If you schedule time for studying, you will be great. The hard part is trying to focus. I have to get out my house, as it is my comfort zone and I will tend to watch tv all day, "Lifetime," gets me every time ha! Also, please remember that the school only accepts Pell Grants and doesn't offer the Stafford loans. If you qualify for the $2775.00 Pell Grant for the semester, which is calculated in hours, around 400 hours, it will pay for half the program. You can get $2775.00 twice a year. You will be responsible for $5,450.00 and you can apply for a Wells Fargo Loan or pay with a payment plan with no interest added. My payment is $685.00 a month. It will be going down, since I just applied a lump sum to my account to help pay it down. If I was you, I would try to save the most I could before it starts, to make it so you don't have to work as much. I went PRN at my second job and payed some bills ahead so I do not have to worry until January. The minor bills I can pay with my PRN job. Any other questions, please feel free to ask. I also added some more information to a previous post, I just replied to before I seen yours. Thank you. :)

Sorry took me so long to reply. Been studying and being a busy bee ha. Tomorrow is our last day before summer break for a month off. I am currently in the middle of block 2. There are 3 blocks total. Block 2 is the really hard block, because pharmacology and N-Clex style questions come into play. I have been holding my head above water this round, but it has definitely been hard with 2 jobs to pay for school and go to school as well. I am happy to say that tomorrow is my last day at one of my jobs, and I will be able to focus more on school. The other class told me, if you can pass block 2, you can pass block 3. The interview is very simple. You will meet with the teachers and maybe the program director, since my teacher has now been promoted to program director. They are really nice and just want to hear your goals in life and if you are really serious about the program. As long as you put in the work and read the chapters, and I mean READ THE CHAPTERS, you will do fine. So many people don't read the chapters in my class and I am guilty of that sometimes, and we wonder why we get a lower grade on that test. It took me 2 tests to learn that lesson ha. All the test question's will come straight from the book. You could start making notecards as soon as you get your syllabus because some weeks you have 4-5 chapters due. Block 2 second week was crazy, we had over 174 pages to read, but we survived. If you really want something, you will always find a way. Any other questions, please feel free to reply and I will try to answer quicker next time. :)
