Verah interesting........

Looks to me like it's a separate application process. Don't know what the wait list is like for it, but for those of you on the waitlist for the RN program, it might not hurt to apply here too. You qualify.

i didn't think to ask about day and night classes since they haven't even printed their application yet for the august '09 class.

to get into block 3 you can apply to any community college as far as i know with their advanced placement application. you just need to make sure that you have your pre-reqs and co-reqs for advancement into block 3 complete.

thanks jess,

i found the mcc advanced placement packet and i gave the link below for those who have not seen it. this makes things a lot more clearer for me. once you get an answer on how many classes gateway will have for aug. 09 please share. good luck to you.

From what I got in my initial meeting with the advisor....there are roughly 10 spots that go to sponsored seats. Meaning an employer or whatnot. So, if there were 20 spots han half are already taken. They don't use a waitlist from what I understand. but I may be wrong. I believe if you don't get in, then you hve to reapply. But, that would be a good question to ask directly to the advisor. I hear it is competetive, but we are all competent and if we have what it takes, we shouldnt have a problem getting....maybe in round two even. I know Im on hold probably until 2010...which seems eternity! But I gotta work for now, atleast until my little one is almost entering Kindergarten.

I met with the advisor at Gateway today and was signed off on my application to the program, which I am dropping off on Monday. Don't have much information at all. Except that there are alot of applicants and that they have two programs, day and night with space. I guess this is new for them. I don't know what they select for... they don't really tell you, but if I find out anything on Monday I'll post it.

I'm applying into this program and also CAC, my interview with CAC is Monday as well. So busy day.

What is new for them? The space or the two programs at once??? So, you say they signed off....does that mean you will likely get a spot?

Signed off only means that my application is completed properly. Doesn't mean a spot.

Yeah new the two programs. At least thats what the admissions lady said yesterday. Of course this does open up more spots than usual I hope!!

How long is this program and how fast can you get into block 3 once you are done with your LPN?

The fasttrack is listed as Jan 09 to Dec 09... I have no idea about the block 3 part I guess it depends on a lot of factors... such as... space, pre-req, hesi pn scores... stuff like that.

I wonder if they will also offer two classes in Aug.09???

My guess is since this block is a test they'll see how it goes. Almost everything at Gateway has like a year and a half to two year wait for the medical programs. Seems they have a staffing issue. So having to staff two LPN programs and the regular nursing program... I wonder if they share Block 1 & Block 2 ???? Hummm something to think about I guess.

If you graduate from the Fast Track program and enter into Block 3 within 6 mos, no need to take the HESI PN, but you have to take a Pharm. class prior to Block 3. This info is in the advanced placement packett at http://nursing.maricopa.edu

I see the HCC classes listed in the catalog for the LPN for January. I know this is no longer a pre-req but it looks like these are still part of the curriculum. Anyone know about this??? I guess if one hasn't taken this yet and is trying to get in for say....fall of '09 it may be a good idea to take these through RIO and get them out of the way?

i thought pharm was part of the program? they have it listed as a part of gateway's and the skills centers, is there a different pharm they are talking about? also, the way i am reading the fast track app, it seems you do have to take the hesi and score 800 and above to get in. is there anyone that has actually taken this route that could share what the procedures actually are?

thanks for the info.
