CC nursing students, anyone know of someone in their class waiting longer than 1 sem?

Out of all of the people I've asked I haven't met anyone who has waited longer than one semester to get in to an Arizona CC nursing school, yet the NS's quote a one to two semester wait. I know it depends on your number and how many shools you apply to, but have any of the nursing students out there, in the Arizona CC program come across someone in your class that had to wait out two semesters, not by their choice but because of a high lottery number, or because they had only one choice on their app?

I know there are a couple of us on this board that have our ap's in and we're probably all wondering the same thing...

TIA

My friend just started this fall and she waited a year. she told me there are about 500 student only 200 have been choosen for lottery and out of 200 only 60 student are been accepted to the program and she one of the blessed that got accepted. The CC of San mateo in California have one of the highest passing rate in NCLEX. so, yes it took her a year to be accepted.

I want to know too. I put my app in June and got the party line "one to two semester wait". Ugh.

I waited about 9 months. I'm at Estrella (southwest skill ctr) and it's a waiting list, not a lottery. The wait is over a year now, though.

I talked to a girl in my class today that told me she waited a year. It was weird cuz I picked the PT program as my first choice, but listed three others. She said that she put down the PT program as her third choice and she waited a semester LONGER than I did. So..........seems almost like atleast when we applied, the PT program wasn't as "in demand" and maybe people frowned upon it?? I know that some of the people in my classes now, it wasn't their first choice and they waited longer than me. So.....totally confusing, I know, but moral of the story...PUT THE PT PROGRAM FIRST!!!!!:chuckle There are atleast four others in my class that waited one semester and I KNOW put the PT program first too..

Besides, I think they tell you that it is Lottery but I do think they probably mess up every now and then with getting people placed. Like why did my friend wait longer than I did if we both had the PT program on our lists? She should have been offered a spot before me...hmmm.....

I was at the Banner orientation program and there were quite a few people who had all pre-reqs but CNA program - and where waiting for that requirement to go away before applying. The advisor at Phoenix College told me that because of that change, she expects a wait of - and I am not kidding - at least 3 semesters due to the number of people waiting for CNA to go away.

But would that be a wait of three semesters for people already with their applications in, or would it be that people are deciding to wait three semesters before turning their applications in, to avoid the CNA as a pre-req?

I turned my app in during June ap week, I was told by an advisor that they'd actually received less app's in Mar and in June than last year. I"m assuming it's because of people opting to wait until CNA is out of the pre-req's (or at least that's what I"m hoping) so hopefully it will be EASIER to get into the spring '06 semester due to a decline in the number of applicants. I know I'm driving myself crazy over this, I can't wait until Oct. when the spring classes are released and all of this wondering will be over.

I would be shocked if you didn't get in this spring. Take a deep breath!

You have perfect timing.

With all the people trying to avoid CNA, advisors told me they are expecting less applications (I deal with Gateway and Phoenix College). For example, I am going to apply 10/24/05 of this year. Gateway advisor told me she would be shocked if I didn't get in their August 2006 class (barring Banner won't take me). For the people without the CNA, they will apply in March 2006, and probably won't be able to start until September 2007 (or so said a Phoenix College advisor). Either way - you are in good shape if all pre-reqs are done...

Wow, that makes me feel better. I'm just stressing, I know. There's not much I can do about it now, I think that's the problem, that it's totally out of my control, and it's something that is going to affect the rest of my life.

I am no expert, but if you applied to a variety of programs, you should be in good shape! I know what you mean about being anxious about getting in. When I found out that there will be an avalanche of applications because of the waiving of CNA, I got pretty upset - not to mention my wife. Luckily, I had an application on file for CNA at Central Arizona College for the Saturday class (lots of shots, CPR card, etc.), which fills very quickly. So we figure it is worth sacrificing every Saturday from 8/27 until 12/14, rather than waiting an extra year. If you already have your application in, I wouldn't stress. At the very leat, you are ahead of me!

Again, good catch on the Banner application last week! It is amazing how many people went in without any of the pre-reqs, so if you already have them all done, you are WAAAAAAAY ahead of the game.
