Banner New Grad RN Program

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Hi guys,

For all of you who are either in the banner new grad program or have already completed it, I was wondering what is the structure? Like how many weeks do you have sim or lecture? What are the hours and days for those? How long until you're on the floor with a preceptor and how long are you with that preceptor until you're on your own?

Thank you guys so much

Oh okay. Thanks for all the information guys. Do you know if banner has a weekend differential or is it just nights?

Just nights, no weekend diff. I just got a raise, but raises are largely based on merit and going to the meetings and such.

Are you required to sign a contract?

Are you required to sign a contract?

I didn't.

After how long are you able to choose your own schedules?

After how long are you able to choose your own schedules?

After your orientation/preceptorship ends. It should be noted that while yes, you do pick your own schedule, the managers can change it to balance the staffing out.

Does anyone know if banner hires new grads in L&D/OB/Post-partum or Peds/PICU/NICU units? Thanks!

I've read about people getting into postpartum but that's all I've heard. I think generally L&D wants someone to have at least a year of experience in postpartum and that might also be true for NICU. I'm not positive though. It's always worth a shot

Yes, they do. Those positions in general are hard to come by, but they're certainly there. AZBlueBell is a new grad in L&D. :)

Yes, to all of the above! I'm a new grad in L&D. Probably the best way you can get any of those positions as a new grad is to know someone on the unit who will help you get hired. Typically these units hire specific people (will go pull their application for an interview) and that doesn't leave many, if any, openings for the general applicants. Not going to say it's impossible, but you will have much better luck if you have a connection with someone somewhere.

Specializes in RNC-MNN & Operating Room.

Yes to new grads in WIS! A large percentage of the girls in labor at my facility are new nurses.

Can you apply for their new grad openings only when you either have a nclex test date or license already?

Hello, I am a BSN new grad and I have applied to many new grad programs at different hospitals in the Phoenix area, I have also just passed NCLEX and received my Arizona license. Do you have any tips for scoring a new grad job? I've applied to the Banner new grad positions a few times but have not heard anything back. Any tips/advice is helpful!
