Hi I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the agency "continental travel nurse"? I recently applied to them and received a call back and was wondering if anyone knows anything about this agency? Good or bad?

Thanks

Hi!

I was wondering if you started working at CTN? I'd like to know the experience. I want to know if it is true that you are being tossed around which means you will not be an NHS employee?

No, working for Continental you are not an NHS employee. They're a separate, private company.

I am considering signing on with them, but it sounds like there is a LOT of red tape to cut through. I was told it would be at least 8 months to be processed. Anyone working for them currently? Is it worth the trouble? I'm hoping they have their act more together than these first comments.

CTN were extremely efficient from the time I enquired to their company to getting my registration with the NMC. CTN did ALL of the chasing with the NMC for me & gave me very specific direction to help me with all of the NMC roadblocks to overcome, otherwise I would've had to do it all on my own overseas (while not impossible, it would have been even MORE time consuming than it was). From the time of application to registration it took 12 months.

I was with CTN for two contracts (six months) in one hospital, did not require their housing & 3 months in ended up applying for a staff position (i.e. NHS employee) where I worked because it made much more sense for my situation (I wasn't actually "travel nursing" per se & was wanting to stay in London indefinitely).

This is was about 5 years ago & since then there has been several changes with the NMC and how they're screening overseas nurses... I'd assume, as a company, CTN would have all the up to date information about this.

Well, it mostly depends on how fast YOU complete the forms needed by NMC, and how efficient the Council itself would be in assessing your application.

Thanks for the response. May I ask how long it may take for them to get you an area of assignment?

Hello!

Just wondering who here are under CTN in ipams. Im just curious if you have been deployed already for In my case, im still waiting for a hospital assignment. The wait is becoming somewhat unbearable.

Hi Mayney08!

I am under CTN too and was told that Guys and Thomas' Hospital is currently not recruiting tier 2 employees. It will not be until late June (at most) that they will be able to find us a new hospital assignment. I had my medical done last month (March) and it really is frustrating to wait a bit longer than I expected.

Hello sharadiggity!

I was also supposed to be deployed to Guy's and St. Thomas'.. Too bad~ i hope they'll be able to find a hospital already and I hope its going to be soon. The wait is really difficult but let's trust God's timing. :)

Hi sharadiggity and mayney08. I guess I'm a batchmate of yours with CTN. It's really becoming a bit frustrating to wait for another hospital assignment. I am happy to find both of you as this is a good proof that I am not left behind by the batch or something scary like that. They told me they would do something about it and deploy me not later than August. Can I be in contact with both of you regarding the CTN deployment? However, I am not quite sure how I can share my contact details through this website as I am a newbie. Thank you!

Hi, I have just contacted CTN regarding getting started. I was wondering if someone from Australia who has had experience with CTN could give me some insight on how helpful or unhelpful they are or how great or horrible their experiences were working for them? Thank you!

Hiya! I'm an aussie currently working with CTN on getting my NMC rego - about to sit the OSCE in two weeks. It's a sad day when I gaze longingly at my AHPRA certificates, wishing for the ease of that registration system!! So far I've had amazing communication with the man who works on the registrations

Hey guys- so what's the story with this? Have the whole Guys and Thommies trust decided not to take on any Tier 2's? Does anyone know why??

How long are CTN expecting you to hang around waiting for an assignment in London?

Guys and St Thomas are still hiring Tier 2s (I am one myself as a permanent staff member), my understanding is that CTN is being problematic in signing a new contract with the trust. I think they're asking for more money than the trust is willing to pay.
