Comparing a nurses' salary - Page 2
Register Today!- Aug 26, '12 by imintroubleI make 2.5 times more than my husband makes.
I make twice as much as any of my siblings except one.
It hasn't alway been this way. The outsourcing of jobs has devastated my family.
I make about $45,000 a year and I feel blessed on more days than not. - Aug 26, '12 by rosie861Quote from BrandonLPNAgreed! I make half that as a home-health aid and I dont have certificates, degrees or anything. Im in Nursing school and thats why I was hired..I don't know, I think 30k a year is insultingly low for a RN. Even a new grad. That's what, $15 an hour? As a LPN in a lower cost of living rustbelt state I won't get out of bed for less than $20 an hour. To pay someone with the level of education of a RN 30k a year is unacceptable.
- Aug 26, '12 by kabooski30K to 60K is such a wide net, which means this is nothing more than a recruiting drive. I predict starting wages to stay frozen, if not actually decline. Its all about supply vs demand. There is too much supply; I remember the good-old-days, when one would be offered $5000 sign-on bonus.lvn2bsoon likes this.
- Aug 26, '12 by nursie_nursie_415During my first year as a new grad I made just under $90k working 32hrs/week on the evening shift. My second year I made just under $110k. I live & work in the Bay Area & these types of salaries are why nurses from all over the world are trying to work here. Those out-of-staters who do land jobs here unfortunately do not spend their money in Bay Area communities but instead spend their paychecks in their home towns. California is bankrupt, people! If you want to continue being paid these good salaries, be sure to support your local businesses - these are the people who are our patients/paying clients. I am not against non-Californians being hired in Bay Area hospitals, but it is important to "give back" instead of taking, taking, taking...
Don't get me wrong - I have so much love for my fellow nurses who fly in from other states regularly for work here in the Bay Area to support their families back home, but my heart aches for my other fellow nurses who can't get jobs. The situation is not helped with all these "nursing schools" pumping our new grads every semester. California, what is happening to us? - Aug 26, '12 by lvn2bsoonQuote from nursie_nursie_415Yep. - Aug 27, '12 by needshaldolOur new grads earn $100K first year. But I happen to live in a very high cost of living area.
