Hello,
I plan to get a Texas license early next year. I have to take the nursing jurisprudence examination. The Texas board of nursing website has a link with a $25.00 study guide for this test. What was your thought on this test? Did you consider it fairly easy? I don't really want to spend an additional $25.00 if I don't have to.
Many of the answers require common sense, within the scope of nursing practice, so to speak. And a few are just blatantly common sense (right vs. wrong). But to be prepared for those questions referencing a specific section of the nursing regulations, or about the Board of Nursing (BON) authority and responsibilites, just download, from the Texas Board of Nursing (as the BON instructs you to do on their website) the following:
- TEXAS BOARD OF NURSING RULES AND REGULATIONS relating to NURSE EDUCATION, LICENSURE AND PRACTICE
- Nursing Practice Act, Nursing Peer Review, Nurse Licensure Compact, & Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Compact
And then bring each of the two documents up in reduced windows and start the test. You can then right click within those windows to search for certain terms, or just click up or down to find a certain section or subsection/subparagraph referred to in the question.
I found the $25 class helpful. I took and passed the exam immediately after i took the class while the info was fresh in my mind. I think it was worth it, my time is valuable and having to look over all of the info needed to pass would have taken me longer and been more aggravating then just ponying up the money
I took the test last night while watching the movie "Tremors". No studying, no prep. I also attended school in another state that does not have a jurisprudence exam requirement. I passed. It was an easy test. I did look some stuff up since I didn't have any classwork on the subject. Don't waste your money on any prep stuff unless you have failed the test.
just took the jurisprudence test 3 days ago. all info are in the website itself. all you need to do is read them before deciding to take the test. when taking the test just leave another window open for the texas bon website so you can access it while taking the test. its more on ethics and rules and regulation. Hope you pass it! goodluck...
