  1. Since you didn't ask just the females I will give my $0.02 from a male L&D nurse- it can, especially if I have an "interesting" patient.
  2. Hospital scrubs. We change when we get to and leave work. I would like to be able to wear my own because being a male nurse they really don't stock enough scrubs in my size.
  3. I'm one...and I work in DC!
  4. WHC was one of the three hospitals that I applied and received offers. I accepted an offer from Sibley Memorial Hosp as an L&D nurse so that will free up one spot for somebody.
  5. Just wanted to know if there are any new grads that are starting in Feb 2011. I think the start date is Feb 21.
  6. COL is high but you can live outside DC. I live 12 miles away in Rockville. Cost of living is still high but if you shop around you could find something you can afford. I heard someone applying there that said she lives 45 min away. Of course, with DC traffic that could be 10 miles away. You could also look at using the metro.
  7. If your interview date has passed, I would probably email them about it. They are interviewing over 200 people from what I hear.
  8. Newrn1986 had some good tips. I drove to the interview. Unless you know the hospital I would advise getting there EARLY so you can find your way around. I was interviewed by two people at once and then they took me for a tour of the floor. Good luck!
  9. If it is still listed on the website then I would complete an application. From what I was told they are looking to hire 100 people. I had my interview yesterday and 1/3 of the people didn't show due to the weather.
  10. There are other threads about the interview process here. I would read through them also. They do go back a few years but I would think that they are using the same process.
  11. med/surg, cardiac, ed in that order. i plan on being there early. i don't think i will be there at 11 but i will be there by 1pm.
  12. Tried to edit my post but having problems.... Look at the website for Suburban Hospital. They have a "tips for interviewing" under their career section. It should give you some good points.
  13. Hey! I have an interview on the same day! Mine is at 2pm. This is the first interview that I have had since finishing school. I have a couple of other hospitals that are interested but not at the interview stage yet. Good luck!
  14. I just finished nursing school in May and I am 42. I was the oldest person in my class at graduation (there were 2 people older than me start the program but did not finish). Go for it.
