YOUR 3 hardest areas of nursing school

Nurses General Nursing

Hello everyone!

What was your THREE HARDEST AREAS of Nursing school ?

With this I will prepare myself-

Thank you!!

:)

I try to keep my uniform clean and spot free (except for coffee stains that accumulate throughout the day!!! LOL) Now ironing is a completely different story! So far the hardest part of my whole BSN experience (I graduate in May) was biochem and the first nursing class in the actual program. It was just getting used to the workload, it seems extremely overwhelming at first, but now I don't think twice about all of the work. Good luck and stick with it!!!

Hardest part? Paying off the student loans! Still chipping away at them 5 years later...:o

The above post reminded me of the 4th hardest part of nursing school- working full time and going to school full time. I paid as I went and have no loans or debt- but it nearly did me in!

Will you please describe this technique and how you learned and practiced it. I need something like that really bad, all that reading is Killing me! I'm sure a lot of us would like to know this too. Thanks

Jazz.

I've just finished my first semester of first year and so far physiology is the most challenging course. Mind you doing all the required reading and organizing notes certainly isn't a breeze...but there's biochem to look forward to this semester along with physiology. :imbar

Now that's the way to do it!! (If you can!)

I tell ya', I'll never do that again!

The hardest thing about nursing school for me was writing those endless care plans. I would FREQUENTLY stay up until 2 or 3 AM writing them and then report to clinical at 7. I am not a morning person at all and never completely adjusted. That is why I work nights now. I once went to clinical with only part of my care plan done and when the instructor started fussing about it, I burst into tears in the middle of the nursing station. She apologized for upsetting me. I simply asked her how much more work I should have done considering I stayed up until 3 AM. She didn't have an answer. It is funny looking back on it now, but at the time it nearly drove me crazy. Anatomy and physiology wasn't exactly easy either, but I managed to pull good grades in them. Just do your best, try to stay positive, and yes, give up some of your activities with friends during the rough times and you will be fine I'm sure.

I can relate. I recall one morning, in the last two months of RN school- I stayed up all noc working on my care plan, and printed up the final copy just in time to put on my uniform and drive to my 12 hr, 6 am clinical 52 miles away.

Those were the days....NOT.

Cardiology, ABG's and electrolytes but theres a medical mneumonic site that really helps.:D

Sleep and getting enough of it is definitely hard, especially getting up at 6am in the dark and coming home at 9.30pm in the dark!!Adjusting to 12 hour shifts was tough too (sorry only 2 reasons)

Well sister, if you get the Krebs cycle you got it made. j/k

Careplans are by far the most horrid thing ever invented. Learning tool. hmph.
