You know you are a CNA when....

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

I am a DON at a nursing home and I am going to be putting together a power point presentation for my CNA's. I really wanted to start out with something fun to help them realize how much they are appreciated. I was looking for something fun like "you know you are a CNA when..." but I couldn't find anything. Can you help me out?

Thanks

Laura

You know you're a CNA when...you knock to enter - the supermarket!?! :uhoh3:

Yep - did exactly that, yesterday.

Incidentally - did anyone notice that 'mrstisback's posts are something like a year and a half old? And, that she hasn't been back to allnurses since?

Just hope the OP got enough material for her powerpoint back in '08! :D

You know you're now a CNA on a respiratory wing when a resident shoots a stream of trach secretions the length of your arm that lands across your chest, and you look at it, say "well, crap", and wipe it off with barely a flinch, as your coworker from another wing dry heaves in the corner. :lol2:

And trachs used to be my biggest weakness!

Specializes in LTC.
...when one of your greatest pleasures in life is seeing how many times you can make your CNA students cringe, blush, or vomit by telling them about BMs that were shaped (and smelled) like assorted zoo animals, foreign objects that you've found in the most unlikely of body cavities, and what to do in case a resident walks through the dining room naked asking for dessert.

HAHAHAHAHA too funny!! I'm an LPN and my job is precepting student aides in their clinicals. Students are SO easy.

Thanks to everybody for their input; I'm speaking at graduation and am stealing some of these to use as part of my speech. :yeah:
