Hey all. I am very excited to announce that I will soon be joining your ranks as an official HH nurse ! I have been an LPN for 15 years and will be doing HH for the first time. Is it crazy to be super excited and terrified at the same time?! I have really enjoyed the thread on a typical day in the life of a HH nurse. It really helped me to decide that this is something I wanted to pursue. Well, wish me luck and thank you all for the the great info .

Good luck to you!!! HH will be such a new exciting adventure for you. It is a different type of nursing...the only one for me. You'll love the flexibility, independence and the one-on-one time. Much more challenging than most people think - but VERY rewarding. Let us know how it goes
Thanks annaedRN! I will definitely keep you posted. I'm sure I'll be checking in to ask questions as I go along!

Congrats, Limik! I'm in the same situation:LPN, just accepted a home health job after a lot of years LTC/rehab.
Will start soon, just not sure when (same company, transfer/ lateral move. DON won't let me go til after state survery) I'm excited, and a bit (well, Ok a LOT! ) nervous about a whole new area of nursing
We'll go on this journey together, how about that??? :bdyhdclp:

Congrats joyfjnoyz ! Hope things go well with the new position. I am currently starting week #2 of my new position. Have to admit, learning Home Health can be a little (OK make that a LOT!!!) intimidating, but I am hanging in there. Looking forward to getting into a routine and feeling more comfy with my new resposibilities. Plz keep me posted on how things are going.

i am a fairly new nurse (2006) that started hh a year and a half ago, i think it takes at least a year to know if this is what you want. the beginning orientation is easy, at least for me, when you get your full pt load is when you really get it. i love what i do but it is stressful, a different stress than in the hospital. hh becomes your life. i really can't imagine being back in the hospital but it is hard. i do love how much i am appreciated though.
