Hey all. I am very excited to announce that I will soon be joining your ranks as an official HH nurse :yeah:! I have been an LPN for 15 years and will be doing HH for the first time. Is it crazy to be super excited and terrified at the same time?! I have really enjoyed the thread on a typical day in the life of a HH nurse. It really helped me to decide that this is something I wanted to pursue. Well, wish me luck and thank you all for the the great info :D.

Hey joyflnoyz, the 2nd week went fine. There were a couple of moments that I started rethinking HH though. It can seem overwhelming at times, just the volume of info you have to take in daily. Just give yourself permission to take your time learning the job. On Friday I got to do 3 independent visits. It was great! I got to spend time with my patients and get to know their hx. I really love that aspect of HH. I think things are going to be great. Go into your new position with an open mind and give it some time before you make any major decisions to stay or go. That is what I have been doing and so far it's working. Good luck on Monday and let me know how it goes.

thanks jnette..I think after 7 years of PM shifts with dementia patients ( including 35 residents, time changes 2x/year, sun downing, thunderstorms and full moons!) I am ready for a change. gotta figure out what do do about a cell phone, though..just found out as of 4/1 the corporation is no longer reimbursing personal cells used for business purposes. I may have to purchase another phone and use it only for work.

hmmm tax deductible? or if it's even worth it..

If anything, my last night on the floor reinforced the decision to leave

So joyflnoyz, How was the first day? I'm still doing good. Get to do some independent visits tomorrow. Let me know how u are doing :D.

whew i am tired! monday morning, began at 0900..met people in the office, then followed around a "seasoned hh nurse". late after noon spent back in the office getting familiar with paperwork. tuesday, continued with hhn #1. start time 0630 for fbs, then followed her around again, did a bit of the paperwork.

today, hhn #2; start time 0815. 2 facilities, 3 labs draws (they're gonna have to teach me how to do that-has never been a part of any job i've had, so haven't needed to kow how to do it) 2 trips to the lab. finished up about 1800.

tomorrow is start time 0800, friday @0630 at yet another facility, and then

yikes! on my own!

is still better orientation than the job i just left..1 day there!

How is it going limik and joyflnoyz.....

I had an interview with HH last Monday. Sounds really interesting. I was in the OR for 2.5yrs. How do you get paid when you are training (visits with "seasoned nurse, paperwork, etc)?
