Published

I was nervous...even though it shut off at the PN minimum of 85. It seemed much more difficult than the questions in Saunders or my ATI program. Wow..I'm so happy, tears of joy:cry:. Now on to the next step, RN, one chunk at a time. I have waited 25 years for this moment!! :yeah:

congrats i cant wait to cry tears of joy when i pass to so what exactly did you experience when taking the exam, was it more difficult then you expected? can i have some good advice im waiting to take my exam and just been studying !!!!!!!!!!!!:yeah:

hi michelle, i found it to be different than i expected. i left really unsure of myself. i don't know if it was different because of nerves and my perception at the time or what. i do believe if you did well in school and your tests there, you will be fine. what are you studying? i studied the saunders nclex book and flash cards. i do feel the questions were different, however i think it still helps with the generalities. best wishes to you! when do you take the exam? are you in tx?

im actually in ca...im studying the saunders orange book and the kaplan book...i did pretty well in school but theres alot of things i havent learned so im just reading into it and understanding the patho...i didn get my att letter so im just waiting for that...

congratulations!

I took the NCLEX-PN today in CA, computer shut off at 85. I REALLY don't know how I did. It wasn't easy but it wasn't as hard as ATI and is was different than Saunders. I had a lot of SATA, like at least 7, I had calculations that went from simple to more involved and into peds calculations. I had a little of everything really, L&D, mental health, communications, priority (actually lots of different questions having something to do with priority of care, who to see, interventions, etc) I just hope that what I heard that the more complex the questions such as SATA the more likely one passes.

I just don't know.

Congrat!! I am just heading into my last practicum and preceptorship. what a year its been. my national exam is on Sept. 10 and I hope I pass too. I from Canada and have heard about the NCLEX. I have been told that the US test is harder. I am wondering what to expect. Any hints to studying?

I personally think it is a good sign when it shuts off at 85, unless you were really bombing it, which I doubt. I know from what I have read regarding the testing, 85 is the minimum amount of questions, if the computer can see that you are consistently above the line and know your basics for passing it shuts off and you pass. If you are consistently below the line with no chance of passing with more questions it shuts off. ( I think that would be difficult to do) I think if anything you would get more questions. Most of the people I have heard failed...got the maximum amount of questions (205). It keeps giving you chances until it knows you have no chance of passing. That was my understanding. I think you can breathe easy. I'll just say CONGRATS to you now!

I really have no idea how Canada's compares to the U.S. I would suggest studying the Saunders NCLEX-PN, only because that is what we did. It is different than what the testing was, but the information is still the same. Are you taking both Canada and the U.S.?
