Some of our patients might think that hospital accommodations are equal to a luxurious Bed and Breakfast or a 4-star-get-away-package-deal vacation. NOT! LOL! But, have you ever been sick or injured and forced into a vacation? Many Nurses never get real down time or planned vacations where we come back well rested and rejuvenated. How about you ... have you considered a little R&R at your hospital just to get a vacation?

I find the opposite to be true. One needs to be on their deathbed in order to call out sick, and come back with note in hand, and STILL get "spoken to" about calling out.

Meanwhile, co-workers are coughing all over each other, and the merry go round goes round and round....

Seriously, one of the hospitals where I live is turning all their rooms into private ones. They want to give the patients the "feel" that they are in a hotel.

I was in just such hospital once... by a pure chance, was on vacation in that VERY posh place on East Coast. Still was pocked at 3 AM and got chocolate cake as a "our hospitality team gift" - BTW, I got there because of anaphylaxic reaction on chocolate. The guy who brought that smoking gun into my room (private, ocean view, flat screen TV, etc.) literally froze to the floor, and later nor he, neither his boss found any other excuse except that "everybody gets the cake, so we thought you'll appreciate our hospitality".

Signed AMA leave and run out of there for my life as soon as tube was out, before having a chance to use their shower gel and other stuff they supplied.

You should have taken them with you-all the other stuff-since it was part of the "hotel" bill.

Cosmetics and bath products can contain cocoa butter and components normally manufactured from it, and those were one-time use small packs without ingredients' list. I was not in mood to risk it all again in less than 72 hours, and nobody in hospital could find list of ingredients, as usual. So I left it all there:(
