I've thought and thought and thought again about switching my career. I've chosen to pursue a career in nursing. I am 32 years old, is this too old to switch???? Please comment.
I don't know what it is, but these age life expectations need to be removed from our thinking. That's been the biggest barrier for me and working towards my nursing career. I'm 35 and I have finally gotten over the age thing. I used to tell myself I'm too old. I should've done it sooner beat myself up then give up. Over and over again. I think I have gotten over that, my faith has helped a lot. I have at least 30 more years to work so why should I stay where I am not happy when I could pursue my dream?
Im 35 and I'm going for nursing, my life experience has helped me for my career, sometimes life experience trumps youth. You are not too old I tell you! You are right on time!
I say go for it! I made the decision to become a nurse when I was 31, it took me two years to complete all of my pre-reqs, and I'm now 33 and I'll be starting my real nursing courses next week. There are so many students in my class that are my age and older. I believe you are never too old to follow your heart. My fiance went back to school to get his GED a few years ago, and there was man in his class that was receiving his also and he was 82!! I remember asking myself that same question "Am I too old to become a Nurse?" then I thought of the man finally receiving his GED at the age of 82, and I said to myself, No! I'm not too old, I can do this! And you can too!! I think If I would've went to Nursing School in my twenties, I don't think I would have taken it seriously and probably would've quit. Do what you feel is right for you, age is just a number:)
