Yale University Graduate Entry Pre-Specialty in Nursing (GEPN) 2025

Published

Hello,

I don't think there is a thread for Yale GEPN applicants for Fall 2025 start, so here it is! Let's share knowledge and cheer each other on! Also, if there is an existing thread, please let me know.

I want to submit my application soon, but I keep re-reading and editing my essays... Anyone else doing the same thing? I have been out of school for almost 10 years, and I'm getting flashbacks to high school/undergrad days!

Additionally, has anyone sent a transcript via Parchment? My transcript should have been received by Oct 21, but on NursingCAS, it says it hasn't received.

Thanks, and I look forward to communicating with you all!

Hi Kat! Thank you for letting me know about the community scholars. I called the admissions office but unfortunately didn't answer... when did your community scholars scholarship application go out for you? And you said it's due on 8th (2 days from today!!)?

Yes, the application opened on Nov. 1st with an invitation to apply. It says due on 11/8 at 11:59 pm EST

Also FYI to everyone, there's a virtual YSN Financial info session happening tomorrow at 3pm est. Register before it's too late to catch it!

Thanks, Kat!

Yes, I signed up, I hope I can ask some questions 🙂

Hi Yeonsu,

You should be okay! As long as your app was in by 11/1 and fully complete, it does not need to be verified at that time to qualify for the community scholars program (just complete).

Hi AstralMae,

Thank you! I thought that too, but now I'm second guessing myself and a bit concerned...

Did you also get an email for the community scholars program? My app was complete by 10/30, but not verified until 11/4. I didn't get an email to apply for community scholars on 11/1 as Kat seems to have. I am going to attend the financial aid session tomorrow and ask.

Thanks in advance!

Hey,

My app had been in for months and was just verified some time around the 1st of November (I'd have to check my email to be sure). I got an email explicitly stating that the application did not need to be verified to be considered in by the deadline, just complete! I don't blame you for wondering, as I was worried about that too until I got an email about it.

Yes I did get an invitation to apply to the CSP, but I'm not sure I would be worried yet if I were you. This is pure speculation on my part, but I'm assuming they are sending out rounds of invitations. The entirety of the applicant pool was not in when they sent out the initial CSP invites on Friday morning. This means they'll probably still need to review all of the other completed apps to see who meets the qualifications and decide who else to invite.

This is all guess work on my part (I used to work in undergrad admissions for a while), but doing it this way would break up the work for them. Rather than waiting until after Nov 1st to comb through them all at once, it's possible they were flagging qualified applicants once they were complete, waiting until after Nov 1st to send out the first round of invitations. Every invited applicant will get 7 days to complete it from the day they received the invite, so I wouldn't worry about missing a deadline. In my opinion, the deadline looks like it's a relative one.

Im not sure being invited earlier means much. It's just as likely an opportunity to be rejected for it sooner too. With that said, I would be surprised if they didn't wait to tell everyone at once, even if we were invited at different times. I honestly wouldn't worry too much about what everyone else is saying. If it didn't come from Yale Admissions, I'd note it but not take it to heart.

Apologies for the essay and I hope that was helpful.

Hi AstralMae,

Thank you for your essay, it is very helpful! And made me feel a lot better 🙂

Yes, if the invitation went out on Friday morning, I do think/hope there will be another round of invitation sent out and hope I'm still qualified! I will definitely wait a bit. Thanks again!

p.s. - it's cool that you used to work in admissions; it always seemed like a black hole to me as an applicant.

I'm glad to hear that it was helpful. Also yes LOL, admissions is its own beast! It was honestly really stressful (more than being a doula imo), so I'm glad to have left it behind. My thoughts on this are just speculation, so also take them with a grain of salt. With that said, I will say that I used to pre-read all of my complete applicants as early as I could and draft notes for them because I knew I would be absolutely crushed once the deadline hit and the majority of applications came in. For context, I worked for one large state school, an alternative liberal arts school, and a little ivy over the years.

I can't remember where I saw this, but I had thought Yale said the invites would go out mid to late November so I was surprised when I got one that early. Then I just chalked it up to them spreading out the workload and announcing/advertising the latest dates that applicants would be invited by, but not the earliest.

Take a deep breath and relax as best you can- totally easier said than done, I know. Start by congratulating yourself for putting together an application in time! I have to remind myself to chill out regularly.

Wishing you (and all of us) the best!

Thank you! Yes, wishing all of us the best 🙂

I did hear back from Admissions team that they will send out invites for the scholarship again in the next couple days for eligible applicants! It's a relief for me and maybe few others in this thread.

Oh that's awesome! Good luck everyone 🙂

Just in case someone is reading and curious about the next round of CSP invitations... I got my invitation over the weekend for due on the 16th.

Good luck to everyone!
