Yale 2015

Published

I've never posted here before but I am going to be applying to Yale School of Nursing this fall for a 2015 start in the GEPN program, CNM/WHNP cohort. Wondering if there are others out there preparing to do the same? I'm heading down to their info session next week.

Any other RNs out there get into Columbia? Their deposit is due Friday- down to the wire with these late yale decisions.

Hi RNs- According to local news and word around campus, the nursing community is mourning the sudden loss of a student today. Such unfortunate news :(

Thanks for letting us know Julia. I figured it was either a professor or a student based on the tone of the email. Very sad. Good to know the community is so supportive and tight-knit though. Let me know if any of you hear any news today.

I'm leaning against Yale currently for myself but still would love to hear back!

Who do you have as a front-runner instead? Just curious who I should be applying to next year ;)

Very sorry to hear about the tragic loss.

Hi Rebecca, I have applied to UT-Austin, OHSU, Yale, and BC. I have visited Austin and loved it and am planning to go to Oregon soon as well. I got into those two schools and have not heard back yet from Yale or BC. I have heard positive things about all these programs but am leaning to OHSU for personal reasons.

In for psych! Has anyone else heard back? I didn't see anything about a merit scholarship so I assume I didn't get one.

Speaking of decisions... I got into Columbia and yale (as of 30 mins ago!) and can't make up my mind. I visited both the yale campus and the nursing school is completely separate from the rest of the campus, which I didn't love, whereas Columbia is right in there with the medical and public health schools. And I've heard there have been some changes around YSN.

Anyone heard about the fact that it's totally separate from yale?

Yes, the school of nursing is separate from the main campus. There are 20-minute shuttles between the main campus and the west campus, as it is called. The other health schools are still by the main campus.

If you visited, I'm not sure if this is a surprise...?

I got into Columbia, Vanderbilt, and Yale and ultimately chose Yale because I felt it was the best for for me. When I was considering Yale v. Columbia I realized what I was really doing was Yale v. NYC. Both have very strong programs and definite pluses and minuses but the tight knit community at Yale and their dedication to their students won out over Columbia where I felt I was more of a number. It also helped for me that many of the faculty at Columbia were Yale graduates in my specialty. Go with your gut and congrats! Nice accomplishment!

And I don't mind YSN being separate from the Campus. It's a lovely building, there's a student garden, parking is free, and you can get on the shuttle and easily get to main campus.

Does anyone know why yale dropped out of the top 10 in the US News and World Report rankings? They used to be 7 for MSN programs , and now they're in the 20's..

Thanks so much, DoulaMe. That input helps!
