Hi everyone! Wanted to start this conversation for those who are getting ready to apply once the application opens on June 1st 2021.

I am hoping we can all share information, ask questions, and support each other throughout the exciting journey ahead!

Good luck all.  It is so exciting to be mostly done.  Now the waiting...

Hi Everyone!

I just completed my application for Yale's GEPN 2022 program.  I started an application last year, but got cold feet so I am here now!  This seems super scary, but I did pay $100 and hit send!  Baby steps!

Good luck, everyone! And I know I would not have taken this advice back when I was applying but... try to not stress too much about stats. ❤️

Yes, it's a factor. But there is so much more to being a good nurse practitioner, and the admissions committees know it. That's why most the top schools look at applications holistically. Tell your story. Show why you're passionate about serving whatever patient population you imagine working with. Pull back layers of your "why" to get deeper answers. (And double check to make sure you covered the prompts!)

Hi all, just finishing up my app-

For the pre-requisite section, what courses do we list?

I know the program doesn't have pre-reqs, and the drop down has Chemistry, A&P, and microbio, but are those the only ones you listed?

Specializes in Midwife, OBGYN.

FYI - for future applicants that are reading this a few years down the line

YSN is currently going through a GEPN curriculum revamp that started with this current incoming Fall 2021 GEPN cohort and will probably continue on to the 2022 GEPN cohort.  This incoming cohort did not have donor/cadaver lab and I believe this is permanent or ILCE.  ILCE is the Interprofessional Longitudinal Clinical Experience where as nursing students you rotate with the PA and med students.  ILCE might come back next year depending on what is decided

Pre-requisites will be required for the incoming Fall 2023 cohort.  The 4 pre-reqs that will be required are Anatomy & Physiology (I & II), General Chemistry (or higher level Chemistry course ) and Microbiology

Part of the revamp is related to how the NCLEX is changing and based upon student feedback.  It is called Next Generation NCLEX and the exam will be case study based for future students taking the NCLEX exam.  Allnurses has an article about it here below.  Next Generation NCLEX will start to rollout April 2023 according to the article so more than likely the GEPN 2022 cohort will be the first to test using the new format.

This isn’t a dealbreaker necessarily but that really sucks! I did a pre-med internship one Summer and worked in a cadaver lab and LOVED it. I think it’s so useful. Even if it’s not NCLEX necessary, I think it’s advance nursing necessary/useful ?

Anyone else already dying to hear back about interviews?

YES!  I don't think we will hear anything until middle of December from what I have read.  Anyone hear anything different?

Last year it was a couple days before Christmas. Then slots were open for two weeks later. I remember being in shock and so anxious as I prepared over the holidays LOL. So it’s a nice or not so nice Christmas gift

That seems like a lifetime from now!

I have also heard mid to late December but I am not pleased to hear from @ChemGirl713 that it was right before Christmas LOL hopefully this year we find out more quickly!

Where are you two (@MikeGEPN & @ChemGirl713) from? Anyone looking at a cross-country move if they get in?

@Rubytuesday821 California for me! I really want to tour the campus and surrounding area but it’s so hard. I went to the east coast for undergrad so won’t be my first time. It’ll be harder emotionally now that I’m putting down roots
