Hey all! I am reapplying and wanted to create this for everyone applying. I won't be as involved as I was last year, but good luck to everyone! I know they're having seminars and allowing people to schedule one on one consultations for applications.

Some specialties are bigger than others so I'm guessing these numbers aren't quite right, but the 30% ratio of interviewed v admitted is (so they interview more people and admit more for the bigger specialties).

Wait so only 30% of interviewees get admitted? Oh boy ?
Just now, PinkFreud said:Really? Mine actually went over, and the interviewer didn’t seem to mind! However, they did mention that some had interviews back to back, so that could have been the case with you!
I'm assuming that you are psych based on your username ? was your interview super psych specific? (no pressure to answer etc I'm just curious if you want to share)
do you guys think interview is considered with application or entirely separately. like this interview is deciding whether im getting in or not regardless of what my application had said. in other words, was the application just a way to get an interview?

My understanding from speaking with students/staff was that the admitted students are proportional to how many people applied for that speciality. There will be way more FNP students than acute care for example

I was going to say - if it's only 15 minutes of answering questions before "what questions do you have for me," that's not much time at all to get into things.
I think it's normal to not feel sure how it went. It probably went fine. I'm guessing the application is the more important part, and the interview is more to confirm someone isn't totally different from how they come across on paper.

Just be confident in your skills and what you bring to the table. They’re interviewing you for a reason! You obviously have something they like, so just try to be yourself. It has gotten you this far.

my interviewer said she didn't know when decisions would go out but after the interviews, they get together for discussions. so, I would think, and HOPE that it's considered holistically. I think its to give the admissions committee a push one way or the other if they are on the fence about an applicant. in regards to the number admitted, I hear what you're saying about proportionality, but 50-60 interviewed total for all specialties and lets say 30% of those accepted seems like a small cohort. my main point was that something is wrong in the numbers somewhere because the typical cohort is about 90-100

definitely keep your confidence! you got this and you will be awesome! my interviewer didn't have any time for me to ask her questions or I would have asked more, but if you get the chance, maybe ask about the admitted stats so we can all have some clarity.
