Xavier College School of Nursing, Stockton ADN Spring 2022 Applicants

Updated:   Published

Hi! Just wanted to create a forum for the students who just finished their apps and HESI exam for Xavier College School of Nursing for their newish ADN program so there's a place to talk and gather! I applied for their entry program (so not LVN bridge) and finished taking the HESI exam (scored really well so happy about that)! I heard there was an interview portion for selected students and I'm prepping all my medical documents right now. Does anyone know the start date for the first semester?

How are the school hours? I see theory and lab is 3PM - 10PM. Is clinical a choice between 7AM - 3:30PM or 3PM -11:30PM. Im have to work while going to school. So Im trying to figure the hours.

I'm in my third semester there right now. Theory for RN is 1-9 pm. There is no option for clinical. You get what you're given. It's 1830-0630 night shift mostly. Some students get lucky and get 0630-1830. There are people in my class who work, I don't think anybody works full time but the ones who work are barely passing, if they are passing at all... When they said fast paced- it's so much faster than what it sounds like. Each week, you get tested on 5-15 chapters. Each chapter is 20-50 pages. you have 1-2 homework assignments due for each chapter each week as well. I personally wouldn't recommend working In this program.

Thank you. This was very insightful.

Ofc! ask any other questions if you have them! I'm an actual student, not one of those accounts created by the staff so I'll give you the real answers to what it's like and not the BS 'this is a hidden gem in Stockton' answer. (referring to an old yelp review that got reported for being fake)

Overall the school gets a 2/5 from me due to lack of professionalism, prejudice towards students with certain ethnic and educational backgrounds, and vast disorganization. Also poor communication amongst staff. Also, for a 40k program, the uniforms are fugly and uncomfortable. The cost is cheaper than most though, its accredited, and its quick. That's why it gets 2/5 from me LOL

Fun fact: graduation/pinning ceremony takes place in a Catholic Church in Stockton

Congrats! Can I ask what you got on the TEAS exam you took? I am trying to apply for the 2025 cohort!

Theory is only 1 day a week and clinicals are 2 days a week. This school is pure chaos but honestly, I'm about to graduate now and I really don't regret going here. This program is a fraction of the price, a fraction of the time commitment, and a fraction of the length of other programs, all for the same degree and more experience honestly. Every facility we go to talks *** about Delta and Stanislaus RN students because I guess they have limits on what they can do and most of them just stand around at clinicals. At Xavier though, we are allowed to do everything from day 1. Pt needs an IV? We can do that. Pt has fentanyl/morphine IV push? We are allowed to do that- ofc the primary nurse needs to be comfortable with us doing it and must be present. We are allowed to perform discharges and admissions if the primary nurse is okay with it. We do wound care, CNA work, we can chart on the computers. The only limit is we cannot work with tuberculosis patients because it requires a fitted N95 mask.

As for TEAS exam, my cohort started in 2023 and we all took the HESI. Most of us scored above a 90% of it. Quite a few people, myself included, scored between 95-99%
