Hello I am applying next year to the tri-cities BSN program and am wondering how GPA is calculated. Will they include retake on GPA or the most recent grade?

Thank you!

Got an email today that I've been accepted into the Fall 2018 class :0 ! Seems like the boards are much quieter this year than in the past. Anyone else out there going to WSU-TC? Any nontraditional (in my case, older) students?

Hi I am wanting to apply to the same campus and am wondering your stats were

Hey y'all I know this forum is super old haha but I'm from Texas and have no clue as to what WSU campuses to apply to and which ones to stay away from. Do y'all have any recommendations? Higher acceptance rates? Better programs?

I would recommend you to apply for Spokane. Yakima has only 1 hospital for med-surg rotation(!), but they have a new campus and much more organized compared to Tri-cities. Tri-cities has more hospitals for rotations, but very unorganized and their clinical instructors usually leave after each semester!

Thank you so much I had no idea!! I'll definitely keep that in mind ?

Hey! What are your TEAS scores/grades/volunteer/work hours like? Spokane is extremely competitive. If you don’t have the best of those, I recommend applying to the Yakima or Tri-Cities campuses. You can always transfer later to Spokane if there’s room in some circumstances.

Hey thanks for letting me know! Ooh for sure I have to work on it. I’m redoing two sciences right now so my GPA so far is a 3.4 and it would require a lot of retakes to get it any higher than that due to the amount of credits I already have. Between Yakima and the Tri-cities campuses, which do y’all think I have a better shot at? Any info on the size of these programs?

Hmmm with your GPA, I would consider applying to one of the other campuses. You have a good GPA, I would just think that to be sure and to make sure you have a decent shot at an interview first go around, I think you’d need to be a little bit higher like 3.6-3.8 especially as a transfer. I think it used to be less competitive. My class had 600+ candidates and only 88 admitted. I think most people had decent GPAs. A lot of people had some amount of volunteer experience. There weren’t very many CNAs. That’s very valuable during your interview and submitting your hours of experience form. You’re at a huge advantage if you apply as a WSU/Eastern/Whitworth student. I think this is one of the biggest things.

However, it also depends on the cohorts and the applicants during the cohort you apply to. You never really know what you’re going up against. They’re big on grades, interview score/experience and TEAS. It’s kind of weighted in that order also. Also where you’re a student from is weighted heavily as well.

I think there’s some information on the other campuses. I think both campuses have 20ish spots? I don’t know a whole lot about them. I think that Tri-Cities may be a little bit more competitive than Yakima. But I’m not 100% sure.

Interesting, I definitely can work on other areas of my application as well. WOW! WSU in general is pretty limited!! Almost all the universities in my area have around 100 spots or more. Definitely worth a shot though. Thank you so much for all your help
