Hello all,
Let's start this 2020 application cycle thread. Anyone will be applying this Summer?

Oh my goodness, I felt the same! My pulse was rushing for the next 10 minutes))) The acceptance email should be coming from the same person next week.

Thank you so much! That is very helpful to know that I could move it to their traditional program if ABSN doesn't work out! ?
@dawnicarose Lower division just means freshman and sophomore classes. Upper division are junior and senior classes. So it’s all prereqs you would have taken with your first degree anyways.
and re Fin Aid, ALL students are capped at $57000 in Federal loans. Second degree students are not eligible for federal grants or scholarships. We must pay via loans (Fed or personal), private scholarships/grants, or out of pocket (cash or CC). You will be eligible for fed loans as long as you didn’t take out 57k during your first degree. If you did take out 57k, you will have to do one of the other options mentioned above.
I had 30k in loans for my first degree. I thankfully received a scholarship and was able to pay some out of pocket. But if not, I would have only been able to take out 27k split amongst the semesters.
hope that helps
Thank you so much, Ashlee! That is what I have read too. I still should have plenty of fed loan left, but it didn't say anything on my FAFSA about being able to use the fed loans. Usually it'll state how much I can borrow, and it didn't.
If you don't mind me asking, how did you get the scholarship? Did the financial aid office give it to you, or did you apply for it through the school, or outside school?
@dawnicarose my FAFSA didn’t tell me how much I had left either. I also accidentally but I had a graduate degree (bc I have my masters, but FAFSA only cares about the undergrad ABSN degree I’m pursuing) on my FAFSA & that delayed my award. I had to go back and Amend my FAFSA to be eligible. The university had to do the math to see how much I was allowed to accept & WSSU distributed appropriately.
the scholarship was a grant that nursing dept had for students from disadvantaged or underrepresented populations. They had funds they had to get rid of before end of school year. I didn’t even know I got it until it was applied to my financial aid account. I asked if that scholarship was available this year and they said that account was not funded this year due to COVID ☹️.
Hey! I'm currently thinking about applying to WSSU as a transfer student(traditional path to BSN route) from ECU since I recently moved in the area and was wondering what is considered a good GPA for their nursing program and if I need to take an entrance exam? Is WSSU accepting pass/fail for the statistics classes or is a letter grade required? Do you think I should wait to send my transcript after I am done with this semester(our semester ends around November 20th) or send it in during this semester(I think everything pertaining to the upper division nursing application is due by January 31st at WSSU)? Also would be interested to hear what your stats were prior to admission ?

I don’t think it matters! I reached out to someone before submitting my application and asked if we needed to include and letter or anything and they said no.

I submitted a resume with my application.
