I am definitley keeping ALL of mine!! The bookstore makes way too much money for me to help them any more than I already have to!! I decided when I took my government class that I would NEVER, EVER sell them back again!! I had to buy a brand new book for $140 and they only wanted to give me $8 for it because they were going to start using a different book the following semester! I told them that they were CRAZY and walked out with my book!!! Anyway I figure that I can always use the books for reference later on. If not, well at least I will be expanding my own library!:chuckle

most college bookstores barely break even. the publishers make all the money. the only money the bookstores really make are on impulse items like school pens, bumper stickers and shirts.
I did not have to buy all my books at once, but I do have a couple of bookshelves full of books so far. I've kept all my nursing books except OB/Peds. Good lord I hated that rotation. I gave it to someone who is in that class now. They were so grateful, but I was just happy to have it out of my house! I've also kept my books from A&P, Micro, and Patho, just because those classes were so interesting. I feel like I'm getting more for my money with them gracing my bookshelf, because I knew I wouldn't get diddly if I sold them back to the bookstore.
i am going to buy my next set of books next week, but so far i have 8 books i will use all the way through school. i will be getting 6 more for this semester and i am sure there more for the next 2 semesters too. of course you have to count all the othr things you need too, like scrubs, shoes, folders, and everything we spend on copies of papers and articles. i won't be selling any of my nursing books back, and i still have my a&p and mico books as well. i hope that they will be good reference material in the future. i guess nobody said nursing school would be cheap.
yeah, we got out for 900..so relieved. :nuke:
but what I don't understand is that in our two boxes of books we had a dvd and we were required to enroll on this online site and stuff. anyway, long story short the dvd contained all of our books with a bunch of cool features. so, I understand some people don't have ready access to a computer, but why didn't they give us the option to buy the dvd with all of our books instead of killing a bunch of trees and causing us to have multiple MI's stressing over our checkbooks??? lol, just a little confused.

So you can build strong muscles carrying these books around at school. Which you'll then use doing transfers at clinicals all day. :)
haha, thanks. yeah, as a guy they will prob be calling on me to make a LOT of transfers...darn you testosterone! :pumpiron:
Yes. Yes they will. But, you can get back at them thusly: "Hey, since I helped you move that large man, can you please do the peri care on Grandma Moses for me?", thus eliminating a particularly gawky experience from your day.

Okay, that is obviously exaggerated. I actually just bought 22 books! I have 18 nursing books, 1 math book, and 3 for my race and ethnic issues class. Wow. I'm still in awe. I spend $1,300!!!! Can you believe that? Although it is actually a reasonable price for 22 books. And the nursing books are meant for the entire two years which makes me feel much better. It's just that buying them all at once is a little overwhelming. I'm looking at my checking account and am light-headed.
So how many books does everyone have or have to get? I'm planning on keeping all of my nursing books. Are you keeping yours or are you going to try to sell them back? Just curious to see what everyone else is up to.
