Would you take class over if you made a "C"?

Published

Don't know what happened but I'm only making a C average in A&P II (made B in A&P I)....so my question is:

Should I go on and take Microbiology (last of my pre-reqs) next semester or retake A&P II? The NS will accept a C as a minimum grade but not sure if I should retake it for a better understanding of the physiology part of anatomy.

Your advice is appreciated.

Don't give up! Last semester I had a "C" for midterm for A&P1 but my final grade was a "B".....so don't go by your midterm grade. Just keep studying like crazy and it's possible to do better the rest of the semester. Good luck!

If you are sure you can get into the nursing program with that grade then leave it. My school is so competitive you have to have A's in AP I & II and Micro to even be considered.

I wouldn't take it over if a "C" would be acceptable for the nursing program. I know many are concerned with GPA and should be however I wouldn't take it over.

Also, I was informed that financial aid (if you are receiving pell grants, seog, etc.) will not pay for a retake of "C" courses because its considered a passing grade. Double check with your financial aid advisor IF you are receivng financial aid. Students loans may be different.

If a C is good enough to get in, I wouldn't retake it. I'm taking Microbiology right now and I haven't taken anatomy or physiology. I understand the material pretty well and have a high B right now. I'm definately working towards that A though!

My school won't let you retake a class if you get a passing grade. You can only retake a class if you fail or if you have a significant lapse of time after you finish the class. Also the nursing school I want to apply to will count both grades if you retake a class.

mmmm....it depends how competitive the school is. And the pool of applicants that are applying the semester that you are. My school offers interviews and if I didn't get one I would think it would be bc of the C I have. But if all your other prereqs are A's and B's I wouldn't worry about it.

I would retake it. Even though they say they will accept a "C" that doesn't mean you will get in with that grade. Most of the other applicants will have either an "A" or a "B" at the least. I wouldn't count on a "C" getting you in just because it's a minimum requirement.

Not all schools are competitive based, or, like mine, only count certain pre-reqs in the gpa for selection. If this isn't a class that is used to determine who is accepted, then it's really not necessary to retake (from an admission point of view)

Nah... I wouldnt re take it... why go threw hell again ?! if you dont have to. If you are that worried about it and it hurting your chances of getting in talk to an advisor at your school and see what they think.
