Would you be scared of 6 foot 3 male nurse.

Do you think my height will affect my ability to get a job?

Will my height intimidate the other hospital staff and possibly the patients?

Or to the contrary people will love that a tall guy is taking care of them/working as a nurse?

This may be a benefit to you especially when working with older adults that are uneasy on their feet. I played linebacker in college and am 6'4'' 230 lbs. and our older pateints love working with me. This is not a knock against female nurses by any means but patients' feel much more secure with a big guy transfering them and working with them than a littlier female. In fact, many supervisors and nurse managers love hiring people like this to work on thier floors for the same reason. That being said, if you don't love doing this job and it doesn't show everyday and in your interview, you will have a tough time getting a job anywhere. Hope this helps and best of luck in the future!

Height is not the problem, I'm 6'2" and into bodybuilding and in occasions it comes in handy when a pt. or a doctor gets out of line, all they see is me coming towards them and that seems to calm them down just saying.......Aloha~

I know what you mean. Being a big, burly guy comes in handy with loud mouthed family members, too. I often felt like I was the unit bouncer when I was an aide in the hospital. Sometimes being able to instill a little fear is a *good* thing....
