Hello Everyone,
I got accepted into the nursing program for fall of 2016, and I've been feeling very pessimistic when it comes to succeeding. Don't get me wrong, I do want to be a nurse and desire it with all my heart. But I just don't know if I am smart enough to finish the program successfully.
Here is a bit of my background:
~I have completed all my general ed., my nursing prereqs., and all my bachelor classes (except the ones in the program)
~my prereqs. gpa is 3.5 but my overall is 3.3
~I didn't pass my teas test the first time by 3 questions,
then got a 62.8% the second time (I needed at least a 58% to pass).
~I am bilingual
~I do have minor test anxiety
~I have a bit of a medical background (certified medical assistant)
From everything I have mentioned, do I have a chance of finishing the nursing program? I just need to hear words of encouragement; I'm too hard on myself.
Thank you everyone! :)
I did ask for encouragement (read the last sentence, just because it doesn't have "stories/words" it kind of goes without saying.)Thank you for your input about my attitude, but you doesn't know me to say that. One comment doesn't say much except for the fact that I am an honest person and doesn't sugar coat anything. I believe a nurse should have a soft heart for people who are down, in pain in any way…etc (I practice that as a MA). I thought many people here would understand because of their nursing experiences, but I know better.
Have a good day :)
You doesn't know me to say that? Work on your grammar. You started this post asking for strangers to comment who don't know you. A soft heart? That goes along with a strong personality to tell people what they NEED to hear, not what they want to hear.
First, believe in yourself. Second, plan for a lot of work studying. And past experience npcan help or hurt you, so keep an open mind that what you know in your job may conflict with what the instructor teaches and tests over. Most instructors don't like to be questioned so unless you want to be labeled, be careful disputing their info compared to yours.
Smart and good at tests are not the same thing. Nursing school includes memorization but most if the testing will be application, so keep that in mind when studying.
If you have test anxiety, see if your program allows you to take the test in a testing center to avoid classroom distraction.

When you become certain that nothing is impossible for you, you'll attain everything you desire.
I am a nursing professor and have taught nursing for many years to American and Immigrant students. I am an immigrant by myself and I don't think there is impossible. Everything is possible if you want it.
