Hello to all,

I am in MDS, and would like to know what you guys would consider an ample amount of time to put in a resignation notice. Does your facility say two weeks notice is enough? Just something I would like to know...

A routine floor position would be two weeks. An MDS coordinator would not be considered in this category and would normally require a four week notice.

Usually you should give a notice equal to the amount of vacation time given to your position. For example, a floor nurse who gets 2 weeks of vacation would give 2 weeks. The management people usually get 3-4 weeks of vacation and give that many weeks notice. Legally there is no requirement.

Thirty days notice for a management position (MDSC) and two weeks for a floor nurse.

Well, I am not a manager, I am also hourly, and I am just considered a MDS nurse under a MDS supervisor, who happens to be the manager. This is why I ask about time. The manager handles the PPS, the schedule, calender, and other details. I just do the MDS, careplan, and meetings. There are also other MDS nurses there besides me. Thanks to all who read and answered the post.

Follow your company employee handbook. Some facilities consider a registered nurse as a person who should give 30 days' notice, even if you are an hourly employee.

Some states even include something about resignation in their nurse practice act.

Good luck in you next endeavor!
