is it worth it to take a CNA/PCT course?

Published

Hello all,

I am currently taking my pre-reqs at a local community college. I will be able to apply for nursing school either in the Fall 2011 *fingers crossed* or spring 2012. Will volunteering or working as a CNA/PCT help get into nursing school or at least look good on my resume once i graduate? reading all of these posts about the lack of jobs for new grads is really discouraging :(

Do I have to be a CNA before being a PCT? is the course with worth paying for?

Thanks in advance!

I must say that it is well worth it to take a PCA or CNA class. I took a CNA class in my second year of nursing school and it was worth the price. When you are hired as a CNA it is wonderful experience especially if nurses know that you are in nursing school, they will allow you to see so many things. And also the hospital that hires you as a CNA will probably upgrade you to a nurse position. I really do not regret paying the amount I did for the course because I worked for two years as a CNA and loved every minute of it. I wish you luck and keep me posted.

If in the NYC area, try Partners in Care. I will try to find the contact info for you ;)

i'm also interested. apart from manhattan inst and nytech, any other schools that you can recommend based on your experience? how much did you spend? worth it?

thanks!
