Feb 17, 2012 I do hope you asked him if he meant 0.8 mg before you told him "if he wanted to kill the baby go ahead"....The convo went like this "Dr. Justgotoutofmedshoolandhasbeenaresidentaweek, Are you SURE you wrote the correct order for morphine and it's not 0.8?"Baby Doc replied "Do you see my jacket, it says M D, Of course the order is right, What do you think I am stupid?(several explicatives were used during this answer)I'm the doctor your JUST A NURSE, you do what I sayWell Sir, the baby is 6mo old and I'm not giving that much morphinebaby doc than replied "You give it or I write you up for insubordination"No, I'm not, if you want to kill the baby you can do so your self.I than turned and went to the attending. I told the attending the problem and that I wasn't comfortable euthenizing (sp) a baby due to baby doc incompentce. She agreed. She also chewed him a new butt. Hence the baby got 0.8 due to the attending overriding. -My spelling is horrid today, forgive me I'm going to bed

One of these years I'll finally get smart and plan vacation in July ... let the chips fall where they may, and sort it all out after I get back.
gcupid 511 Posts Feb 22, 2012 My favorite was when I was told to maintain pt's MAP at 97. Not 90-100, not 95-105, but 97. I can titrate drips ok, but can't I please have a range?Range orders are a privilige...Why should the ordering practitioner spoil you? If I order the pt's MAP to be maintained at 97, that's what I expect!!! LOL!You would have to have a patient ratio of 1:1 as well as be a clairvoyant...(is there a shift differential when u r required to use that gift?)
belle87RN 40 Posts Specializes in Emergency!. Mar 12, 2012 some more:3) Frequent flyer drug seeker here for the 53rd time in last 6 months with chronic pain complaint. Arms are swollen and ecchymotic from hers and our attempts at finding a vein. Doctor's order: Dilaudid 2MG IVP Umm...you have two options doc..change that route to IM or I'll tilt the table so you can get a better look at her IJ. Cuz the last 3 charts show that my co-workers have attempted unsuccessfully to find a vein and although I'm good I'm not a miracle workerWhy was he giving in and giving her Dilaudid, if he knew that she is a drug seeker?
