So, I just finished this semester and I got a C in psychology and in Soc Science. I am so worried my chances have become really slim for the nursing program.
Definitely find out the policies of the schools you are applying to- if they don't allow retakes, it would be a waste of your time and money. If they do allow retakes, I would go for it- even if the Cs might end up not being a big deal in your overall application, having a higher grade will only help you more.

Here is my
on the issue...
I have helped some of my friends who are also Nursing students by advising them what classes to take and stuff like that (sometimes their councilors aren't able to give them as much personal help as they need.) Anyways, the nursing department at my school says the minimum grade for any course is a C and the minimum GPA to get into the program is a 2.7. I tell any of my friends that if you have one C in any course (although its better not to have the C in a science course) then your o.k but once you start having more then one C you need to start retaking the prerequisites. Having a C in Psychology and a C in a Social Science isn't a huge deal but if you can I'd retake one of them just to get rid of the C. I think that most schools are looking for A's and B's in your sciences but more importantly that you have taken the prerequisite classes at their institution and not somewhere else. I've found that although advisers know a lot about the programs at their schools talking to students who have already been accepted is generally more helpful. Good luck!
