My coworker completed UTA's online RN-to-BSN program while employed full-time, and two other coworkers are currently enrolled while managing full-time work.
Since I am enrolled in another online RN-to-BSN program at a different school, I unfortunately do not have any firsthand information on the assignments. Good luck.
I just started the RN-BSN at UTA online. It's doable. I work full time and have a family too. This first class is a 6 credit, 10 week combined course and I've had to write one essay so far and write quite a few article summaries. I'm only on week 3, but it's certainly manageable thus far.
I obtained my ADN on Dec 2010, I remembered I started professional nursing class on Nov 2013 which lasted 10 weeks. I work full time and have 2 kids, I can say its possible and doable. Time management is the key since most of the classes are 5 weeks. After the first nursing class, i've been taken one class at a time and no classes during summer. I take my own time lol but with all As. Expected graduation May 2015 yay :)
Congrats to you too, I started this program when my last baby was 2 months. Easiest classes according to me: nursing professional, older adults, promotion (check APA for discussion board for this class), leadership & management (no quizzes for this class yay). time consuming class: research and vulnerable population (I actually finish this c lass in 3 weeks instead of 5). I still need health assessment and capstone for nursing.
I started the program in 2010 and I completed it in maybe 12 months while working 12 hour shifts. It is definitely doable. It only requires time management and motivation! I also know a few other nurses who have completed the program at UTA and one of them works a Monday-Friday job. And I must say, getting the BSN was all worth the while! I am now finishing my masters at TWU.
Hello to all,
Adding my two cents, I started the UTA RN- BSN program January 2014. I have taken 6 courses successfully and am currently
enrolled in two courses now. One which is through UTA, medical terminology and a math course through local college. My experience
has been positive so far. However much of the course work is extremely time consuming for a working individual. For example British
literature and Care of the Vulnerable Population. It can definitely be done and work full time but just don't expect to have a lot of
leisure time. Many of the courses are essays, research papers and analyzing different works and articles. Prior to beginning this
program I researched it and thought it would be a fast track program because it states you can finish in nine months to a year (I
believe that's what's advertised). I also feel this nine month time frame applies to those who have completed all general ed courses. At
any rate, I find it nearly impossible or maybe an exceptional person can work full time, take care of family demands and complete this
program in nine months. For some of the courses my life has been UTA, sleep. work repeat! No to discourage anyone but a
forewarning to be rational with your time and UTA work load taken on.
I am currently in the RN to BSN online with UTA and I must say prepare to have no leisure time if you work full time as well. I am also concurrently taking some general courses through local college and I am overwhelmed to say the least. I find there is no time to go to the casinos anymore which I guess may be a blessing in disguise. lol

Hi all,
Any working RNs out there while taking fulltime RN-BSN online courses? Are the assignments more on essays? How do you manage 12 hours shifts + overtimes + family time + study? Any feedback is welcomed! Thanks!
