working as an RN at a college/university health center...anyone?

Published

Am not sure where to post this so I'm going for the general discussion area...anyone work for a health center at a college or university? Someone asked me to apply for an RN position she has open...it would be M-F 8-5, hour for lunch, no weekends/no call/no holidays, summers bascially off however employees pay for parking and are mandated to participate in the state retirement (which you can get back if you leave) as well as direct deposit...I get the feeling the pay is not that much (less than 40K yr but the health departments in this area pay 36K)...it seems its like a walk-in/urgent clinic plus health department/immunization clinic combined. My understanding is all employees and students use the clinic but its mostly the college kids and atheletes.

The salary would be ok depending on where you live. Here that would be low. You will be hard pressed to find a nursing gig with as many of the features as the one you are describing. To my eye, everything will depend on how much those particulars mean to you. For example, I never minded shift work or weeknds but I hate call; I'd always take a reduction in pay to get away from it.
